Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

I agree. It should also be recognized the White Mountains of New Hampshire are also a training ground for Wilderness Medicine. SOLO in Conway ,NH is the oldest continuously operating Wilderness Medicine School in the world. In other words, there is no lack of rescuers ready to jump on an incident.

These are the true moments of what selfies are made of before finding the keypad.

"So perhaps yes, it might be true that “if you build it they will come”, and in this case the creation of the glade skiing opportunity on the RCF is looking like a great success, providing additional outdoor winter recreational opportunities on the forest while contributing to the local economy...

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

So your point of relevance is? Carrol Police and a campground vs. ultrarunning in the Pemi and NH F&G don't seem like the same ballpark to me.

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

Blaming the light or not his Wife made the call. Whether there was an agreed upon time or not that she was instructed to do that or was it a subjective opinion on her part is more of the question in my opinion. Either way she initiated the call and got the response she was looking for. Making...

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

When Googling "What is the difference between a Search and a Rescue this was the primary answer given: "Search involves locating victims and documenting their location. Rescue involves the procedures and methods required to extricate the victims".

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

The victim was searched for and located. Then extricated with outside aid beyond his personal resources. Which qualifies as a rescue by most if not all SAR standards.

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

Good points. Although maybe not a rescue per se but certainly a rescue response which could have been avoided. Possibly the Wife was thinking of being safe rather than sorry.

Ultra Runner Search and Rescue in the Pemi

I agree on all points you are making. The victim in this case is well experienced and has quite a resume in regard to athleticism according to his FB Page. Surprised he and his team did not manage the situation better. Would be interested on how many rescuers responded and the cost. If the...

Don't get too excited. "During our normal operating season, guests may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages for themselves to enjoy at any of the designated picnic areas on the property".

Public hearing on Randolph Ski Glades this evening

It is a Town Forest. Many Town Forests charge residents and non-residents for use. Fees produce revenues that produce income for trail maintenance and patrolling. Randolph use to be a quiet little town on the hill but as already mentioned the cat is out of the bag whether locals like it or not...

    Acadia Best day hikes

Here is a link to present closures. Beehive not on the list. The list also shows closures not only on trails but roads and carriage roads. As of this notice carriage trails were limited to pedestrians and bikes not allowed due to Spring Thaw. https://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/conditions.htm

Public hearing on Randolph Ski Glades this evening

Many spot-on comments. There have been many upsides to the exploitation of BC Skiing but there are certainly downsides obvious from this present situation. Hopefully something can be worked out. Limiting parking to the developed lot IMO would go a long way to achieve a more acquiescent...

Public hearing on Randolph Ski Glades this evening

Thank you for posting this and appreciate your attendance and information now and going forward. This is certainly an unfortunate and unacceptable situation. I would be interested on what was agreed upon initially between the powers at be and GBA to begin with as far as what and who would manage...
