Conditions: Packed powder along the Lost Pond Trail (barebooted). Wildcat Ridge Trail had packed powder with some loose snow on top.

Equipment: Everyone I saw on the trail was using crampons. After the cliffs (where the blocks are attached to the rock) there was enough snow to make snowshoes an option. Trail was packed enough though that snowshoes were probably overkill. On descent, the conditions (particularly below the cliffs) were mixed. The snow was loose and there was not much ice buildup to grip with crampons. Snowshoes did not do any better, though barebooting was foolish for descent. Perhaps with the new snow it has improved.

Other notes: Had a very nice day with Trail trotter and Kevinmac. BigEarl hurt his shoulder about a mile into the trip and turned back. We were in the sun for most of the day and the wind was not too bad. Presidentials were in the clouds all day. Saw many people on the trails around Pinkahm Notch. Others were heading across the ridge, but we headed back after summiting Wildcat D.
