  • I liked your comment on trail maintenance. I'm an adopter through the FS. I help the Saco district on other trails too but like you check in with our trail manager first.

Wondering what your method for tackling your trail(s) are in terms of maintenance in the spring? I was thinking of mixing it up this year and going up first just to patrol with axe, saw and clippers. Then handling the waterbars later.
The authors are Kayworth and Potvin and it is available on Amazon. Their books have gotten good reviews. Kayworth has also written one on an Abnaki warrior.Have just gotten two books by Bob Bearor on battles in the Lake George area. So many books so little time!

Hey great! Look forward to one of those trips. Have a hundred or so questions. Have you read a book called Scalphunters? It is about the Lovewell battle in Fryburg.
Hi Fisher Cat....I have just been reading about Rogers Rangers and have found that period of history quite interesting! My friend erugs and I were hiking Mt. Hedghog last week on our snowshoes (of course) and I mentioned what it must have been like in these hills way back in history and how much fun it would be to try to recreate the way people lived and travelled in those days. She mentioned you were on VFTT. Anyway find your philosophy interesting and would like to go on one of your hikes sometime.
Thanks for the greenie! I feel very fortunate to of had this experience...grew up in the White's and he's the most beautifull I've ever seen!
Hi Fisher Cat - thanks for the green square and the kind words, I appreciate it!
And now, you can wear them lace free. Just slip 'em on, and out you go.
I giggle because I have a very hard time parting with footwear (or anything item/clothing/object that has been as useful to me). I have a pair of trail runners with something like 700 miles on them, and they are threadbare in places and tread-less, but I just can't let go -- they are still useful for things like gardening. Anyhow, I really liked your essay. It was wonderfully written!
I wish you guys could be here, too! Next year why don't you plan on camping the weekend here? If it's bad weather we'll put you up inside!
I think it's great to wait and get your scrolls together. There's too little togetherness in the world today.
funny! My neighbor does the bulk of the work, and he starts really late! There are buckets up elsewhere, and things look to be running good so far, from what I have seen. Very little snow at my elevation (500ft) but the higher elevations ( above 1200 feet) still have good snowcover. I could put 80 taps on my trees, but since my neighbor has all the stuff, its kinda fun to just help him, even if I don't like his syrup! I just let him tap mine, too. The tree in the avatar has 6 buckets, and I have another couple trees with 7! OLD trees....
Thanks for the feedback - I was just browsing through the site and found it (guess I'm a bit slow at these things sometimes). We had a great time :)
Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. My family and I are overwhelmed by the support we're getting...it's nice to know so many care
Hey Scott . . . I really have no idea what you're referring to?! Want to elaborate a bit more?
Thanks, Fisher Cat, for the fine praise and the green square.

(Regarding the amount of text in the TR, I've tried to cut down on it a bit in the last few -- I've gotten feedback that I tend to be text-heavy.)
