    Sticky tent

Thanks for the helpful replies and advice for my query. I'm surprised to hear that my tent might be on its last legs. I have to ask, with some explanation, I had my tent stored in a stuff sack, stuffed for about four years. Would this cause any problems since I did not use it? Other than that...

    Sticky tent

I have an EMS Moonshadow used this past week and noticed that the material was sticky, but not stuck together. I seem sealed it about six years ago when I got it. How does one go about removing the stickiness? Cheers, Ridgewalker

Pack a Sandwich, We're Hiking Sandwich!

Oh wow, what an interesting route you took. How was the pond, Marty and I were looking at it from one of the ledges and commented on the possibility of moose wandering over there. Wish we could have passed ways, been awhile since Pat and Audrey's a while back!

Pack a Sandwich, We're Hiking Sandwich!

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods; There is a rapture on the lonely shore; There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and the music in its roar: I love not man none the less, but Nature more… Lord Byron The peak, Sandwich, is truly an underrated peak, even if someone...

    Backpacking and contact lenses

Hey Early Bird, When backpacking out in New Mexico, I used a two week lens and kept a small bottle of solution handy. I kept enough of the lenses moist in the case to last the trip, and took another set of contacts on the trek. When getting into camp, I took the contacts out and hung them up...

Passing Through Heaven On The Way To Isolation, 12/30/2011

Earl, thanks for inviting Marty and I. We really enjoyed climbing with you and the whole group. The bushwhack was the part I looked forward to and felt that was the most peaceful area if one was to solo it. Best, Clarke

    AT Shelter Burns

That's too bad, but one could be speculating what the new shelter will be called, "Burnt Shelter"?

AT flooding: What do thru-hikers do ?

I agree. We've encountered people who get hung up about rules and forget about reality and common sense. It's all personal choice and after all we're adults we choose to follow the guidelines as how we play in the woods.

    Describe your ideal guidebook...

I'd prefer something that could be stowed easily in one's pack. That has been rare occurrence, but when my dad, brother, and I hiked together, we took the AMC book, which was helpful for last minute planning. The local lore is great for spotting historical features on the trails and the...
