Sure ! They are good tools but they really shouldn't be used by novices -- people get into alot of trouble with them. Sad thing is, they don't even realize it! If you do decide later on that you'd like to work with one -- they are good for reinforcing recalls and keeping trail dogs from harrassing wildlife. I'd be happy to help you out, if you are ever in this area?

Didn't know about the rock routes, but I'm not surprised...some of the pics I took, looking back, look like it's out in the Rockies or something. Do you know any links to the climbing routes?

RE: Sleeping Giant (I think instead of replying to your message, I sent a message to myself. D'OH!!)

I've only been there twice -- once for a short pre-Presi Traverse training hike and once when I co-led an AMC Backcountry Nav clinic. (It was raining, so we stayed in the pavillion, mostly, and didn't venture outside too much.) The AMC is running a spate of family hikes over the summer/fall, one of which is at Sleeping Giant, so hopefully I can get there with my kids. I'd *really* like to go rock climbing there, however, as there are some classic Connecticut routes on the Giant...

Hey! We had our first round of layoffs yesterday. I managed to make it through what a relief. I think things are far from over though!

Hey Adam...sorry to hear the cuts will keep coming, but good to know you made it thru March. I'm sure the waiting is stressful...
As Rickie says, now that I have a real job it's been tough to find time, plus I've been on the road a lot lately. It's starting to settle down, and I'm getting the routine, but it's a lot of work.

Why are you so quiet? I have not seen you around must be the new job is keeping you busy. I made it through the March cuts and they say the next one will be in July. So it is the waiting game again. Take care!
