I just watched this video and was wondering if it was something new, or just sensationalizing the current situation of being potentially held liable for rescue costs if unprepared or acting recklessly.
That’s what I thought . This guy does do some decent reviews of lower-priced gear but in most other ways he’s not very entertaining or informative. He’s one of those who thinks REI prices are way higher than other retailers, for example."Sensationalizing" is putting it mildly IMHO. I've climbed Mt. Charleston - it's a 12K' peak north of Las Vegas. When I lived in CA, it was a couple of hours away. It's not a peak I'd do in winter, however.
Doing a quick Google search, I found only one who had died falling out of a SAR helicopter in 2013.He did not say how many SAR personnel have lost their lives on Mount Charleston, but it sounded like more than one, which is all that we have lost in Cow Hampsha, Albert Dow in 1982.
