The Qunochchaug and East beaches are just long stretches of beach mostly deserted because the breachways make them dead ends. Q beach is about 1.5 miles walk east beach 2.5 and all it is all sand and crashing surf. Both have parking issues, in fact Q Beach parking lot is private with guards, at least in season, virtually abandoned off season.
Napatree is 1.5 (all distances one way) and is tamer but has a nice rough rocky shore at end. there is an abandoned Spanish American era war fort (Fort Mansfield) at the end which is worth the trip, I love it there in the winter or in a storm.
A few years ago we walked Block Island from North to South, that included walking along the beach below Clayhead. It was a beautiful day with dynamic September skies. After decades of day trips we decided to take the car and spend a few nights out there-we took the car so we could drive to all the walks we were never able to get to. It was a fantastic week and full of sunrises sunsets and everything in between.
I am hoping to go back there and do another north to south trip someday, when the time is right.
