  • I think there may be a loophole in the weather...I had blue sky early this evening in Crawford Notch, contrary to the forecast. Meanwhile, it was still all cloudy to the south. I'm undecided between heading way north (Nash Stream) or to take my chances down this way. Come on up!
Thank you for the green spot, Sabrina. Terra, wow, what a beautiful dog -- and what a hiker, too, judging from the photos. All these dogs are great, aren't they?
Thank you for your input. Most of my DAKs experience is in the winter, a time of year, when I am not nearly as ambitious.
you're welcome. I still don't think I know what we went through.....
Reading the report from Mohamed in Appalachia today, and then reading Laura's trip back to Franconia Ridge in the same issue, and then you're report.....gave me the opportunity to reflect...
Yeah, whenever someone is pronounced 'dead at the scene', you can be sure he was VERY dead!
it was nice hiking with you and your friends on Vose Spur yesterday. I managed to bag Peak Above the Nubble today, so #96 for me. hope to see you along the way. Cheers!!
I think its only five miles round trip, i just put a point on the peak on my gps and made few key waypoints using beta from bob and geri for things on the way up. it should be fairly straightforward and i wouldn't be surprised if we could make out a faint herdpath by now, so many have gone there and it takes so little. plus we have the sniffer hound to follow. I think its going to be max 3 hours up, 1.5 down. mj remembers is being very easy with one deep spruce section as you climb the first ridgeline, and from what i've read, people try to skirt to the right of it.
looking so forward to seeing you!
looking forward to it...a little sore after 5 hour rt on garfield today but not unexpectedly so..how long a hike tomorrw? from what i read 5 hours rt or so? have a great morning hike..cannonball fairly rough though I was not hiking all that much when I did that one....on a backpack no less...
I feel bad, Rob! I really am not trying to do it on purpose! I will start a Rob greenie fund and distribute it to all of your trip reports! And next time we hike together, when I'm 21, I'll have something special for you to drink!
