    Isolation Bid #5

I'm pretty E-Z Coming out in the dark is not uncommon, right Darl :D I would want to have the best odds at this go every which way, an early start time is great, but more feet on the trail is good too. So...I think a departure of 8am is a good trade off. Any thoughts?

    Isolation Bid #5

Jan 4th anyone? Sunday looks like a decent day for a push up Isolation. So far it looks like we have a strong group going in. Again, this will hopefully be my W48. We anticipate doing both traditional bushwhacks unless another group had done the other one from near the shelter and the tracks...

    White gas stoves

Hey there MR, I've been using a whisperlite Int. for many years and love it. It is the quietest you will get to do the job. I wouldn't bother with the Simmerlite, it doesn't really deliver much more for the price differential, IMO. All the rest are jet engines. Steph:)

Hey there Dave BEar :) I got an e-mail from a VFTT guy and his friend who was also rejected last year to go in Dec 28/29 for an overnight for low snow levels. My only concern there is for possible crossing issues if waters are running high with no ice/snow bridges yet. I asked about bringing...

If you are interestd in joining me this Wednesday please let me know. Strong hikers with winter experience and knowledge that the second bushwhack will be...

    Isolation Odyssey

I am begining to get the notion that this summit has it in forme, laughing as I approach, chuckling, grinning, saying "come on, keep going, yup a little more, but I don't think so". :) This marks my fourth attempt over the past 3 years to bag this winter peak. The first time was just an...

Anyone up for Isolation, 48th hopeful!

The Isolation Odyssey was a bust in terms of bagging the summit. We did however bag Unknown Peak :o I want to thank all for their input for this trip. A HUGE thanks to hiking pals, Darlene, DaveBear, and Paradox. You guys are great! For more detail see trip reports.

Anyone up for Isolation, 48th hopeful!

Chabela, Yes, staying up there is a wise choice. We do still plan on a 7am start, so unless something happens travelwise in the AM, that should stay true. Mostly strong referenced for the duration of this hike and the breaking potential. We will not be going at a tremendously fast pace, but...

Anyone up for Isolation, 48th hopeful!

Time and Distance Chabela, You've got that right about the time. As far as mileage goes, I'm not being precise here, but the bushwhack should take off a few miles or so, so traditionally it would be 14.6 RT, we could probably cut it down to about 11mi. If we do have some nice...

Anyone up for Isolation, 48th hopeful!

Hey all, I think a solid 7 am start time is good. Meet at 6:30 in the lot, lock and load and move it out. I'm happy and confident about the time change. I think we have plenty of daylight and strength of what so far seems to be 4 of us, possible 5 or 6. I'm still really hhoping for some...

Darlene, I think I'll pass on the dress, but the hat and scarf are lovely :p You must have frozen, adrenaline is a good thing, human antifreeze. I'm scared you may have started a new trend, I'd like to see the guys in dresses too, maybe showing a little thigh
