    "Bi"pyramids in the snow

Bobby, Tony, Sal, Geneva and the gang -- it was a blast hooking up with such an amazing crew! I was glad I ended up turning around. Not only were my feet soaked but I was just plum pooped after the slog back along the Livermore trail. I couldn't believe how much of the snow had absolutely...

Day hiking vs. Going Long - moved from Q&A

I'm sort of the opposite. When I'm on day hikes, I like to reserve my energy out of concern that I want to make sure that I'm able to make it back down. When I'm backpacking, I like to push myself _ figuring that if worse came to worse, I could always just pull to the side and I'd have to gear...

    Guyot: Over Twins or Zeacliff?

My two cents: If the weather forecast is anything like what we've had in the past several days, I'd vote for going over the Twins to Guyot. The views from South Twin are awesome, and we don't get too many days like we've had lately..

Formal Hiking Clubs vs Hiking Boards

When I first started hiking, it was with friends and/or my boyfriend at the time. The relationship disintegrated _ :p _ and my friends were never really into hiking. So for a long time, I'd head out solo. But that makes friends and family really skittish if you're a girl alone in the woods...

Ghouls, Goblins and VFTTers on Friday the 13th!

If plans change, Sherp, come on over! For anyone else who might be interested _ particularly those coming from Boston _ think about taking either the commuter rail up to Salem, or the ferry. The train heads out from North Station; the ferry takes off from Long Wharf in Boston. Come one, come...
