    Alabama wants The AT

Nor should the watch stop on the summit of peak #48 for the FKT for the NH 4000ers. But it does. Tim

    TSL snowshoes?

I am not disputing their claims. It does not invalidate my good experience. I am presenting a claim counter to your assertion: good customer service, something no one would ever claim about MSR. The attitude one presents when dealing with customer service people often shapes the response and...

It appeared that the Blackhawk was operating over Osceola today. I was XC at Waterville and saw it from the top of Snow's Mountain. Tim

Saddleback Uphill Trail - Does not go to the summit

A multitude of people are going / have been up that exact way. Myself included (pink) albeit in Winter 2016 when it was not in operation. Tim

Another way to determine turn around time (in the winter)

I must say a moonlight walk out of Lincoln Woods or the Tote Road in Baxter definitely makes, what many would say is tedious, much more pleasant. Tim

Another way to determine turn around time (in the winter)

Steps are a proxy for time and a clock does a much better job counting time than I could ever do counting steps. Steps used as a proxy for distance, when bushwhacking say, or going 200' off trail for a bio break, is a more realistic use case, IMO. For short distances I probably can keep an...

Another way to determine turn around time (in the winter)

Does it matter? Just don't use one definition going up and the other coming down? ;) Waaaay too error prone in my opinion. Tim

    Handwarmers?

My hands are clammy at least and often times dripping wet. But they stay warm and I don't burn through glove liners either. YMMV. I am a heavy sweater. Tim

Batten down the hatches, the weather hype is at its max

Waterville is closest. Bretton is next closest. The rest are not really great day trips from the south. Waterville has usually had the best grooming. I’ve been skiing there for 25 years now and this might be the second or third leanest year I can recall. I’ve seen pictures and read reports...

    Water Bottles -- 2022

I usually just use hot tap as well :) If I keep the extra water in a cozy inside my pack, then it doesn't even need to be hot to stay liquid until the end of the day. Tim

    Handwarmers?

GAME CHANGER! Most have a slippery side and not slippery side. The slippery side is designed to be on the inside so they go on/off your hands easily. When I put them under gloves, I turn them inside out so they stay on my hands and the gloves (mittens) slide on and off easier. They're like...
