looking for advice on a honeymoon hike in Nova Scotia

Trail is quite flat except when ascending/descending to the shoreline (about 600 VF each time). Footing is very good, no rock-hopping. If your wife can do 10 miles a day in the whites, she will have no problem. The flat parts are through a mixed hard/softwood forest, with frequent views of...

Looks like an out and back if your doing the Knife Edge this Year

Mac (me) added to the confusion by referring to the peak (Pamola) instead of the trail (Helon Taylor).

    POLL: Your longest day?

12-13 hours (Katahdin). Early October, deteriorating conditions. Also accompanied a hiker who'd been left part way up Saddle trail while the rest of her group summitted. Waited at Chimney Pond (under the shelter) until her party showed up, so that stretched out the end of our hike.

New England Clean Power Connection Project offers to go under the Kennebec Gorge

Too bad they hadn't accepted this project instead. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/emera-atlantic-link-massachusetts-energy-northern-pass-transmission-1.4504425 Would've used existing grid, then underwater.

3 day 2 night loop in NH?

Another option might be Gray Knob (Randolph Mountain Huts). Hike to hut, spend nite, hike choice of Jefferson, Adams and/or Madison next day, spend another nite at Gray Knob, then hike down (or any combination).

    Maine route 9 (airline)

We're going to Acadia NP on Victoria Day weekend and are looking for hike suggestions for the return trip (route 9, Maine, eastbound between Bangor and Calais). 2-3 hours round trip would be perfect, but not picky.:). Looking to break up the trip a bit.

Baxter Peak via the Hunt Trail, Saturday 10/7, plus gratuitous Baxter In Autumn Shots

Beautiful pics. I've only been to Baxter Peak twice, and hope to do so again despite my also experiencing "...advancing physical decrepitude." :D

    Banff and Canadian Rockies

Johnston Canyon is a shorter hike. Moraine Lake a longer one (spectacular scenery). When I was there (February 2013), signs warned to hike in groups, as there was risk from mountain lions. Sep/Oct, bears will be trying to fatten up for hibernation.

Recommendations for Hiking/Sking/Snowshoeing Banff Early December

Yes. Moraine Lake trail, just east of Lake Louise. When I went, couldn't go all the way in due to avy risk. Sign at trailhead discouraged solo travel (due to predatory animals such as cougars), so I waited until someone else showed up.

    Coyotes

More recent data (up to 2016) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote_attacks_on_humans Interesting in that many of these attacks involve the western coyote, although there are a number of eastern north american examples. I don't usually refer to wikipedia, but this seems to be a pretty...
