Fall Gathering 9.9999999 - Sep 21-23 White Birches

Thanks Audrey. I'm 95% sure I'll be there. About time I meet some of you all! I will probably do the Terrace loop from York Pond on Friday if I can weasle the day off from work, and like to do something in Mahoosuc (to include Success and maybe the plane wreck) on Sat. and maybe even Cherry and...

Fall Gathering 9.9999999 - Sep 21-23 White Birches

Does anyone know off hand if they allow dogs? I will call, but thought I'd ask here first. Also, and if they do, is anyone planning to bring a dog with them? Never been to one of these, so I want to ensure I am welcome next time :D

    Scar Ridge, East

Sounds like the only way out of this mess is to head back and hit every hump between the two I have already climbed as I have finished the NE100's but if the other "West" peak is actually higher….. Thanks for all the clarification! I think I'll let these puncture wounds heal a few weeks...

    Scar Ridge, East

Yep, cannister on both bumps. I wasn't aware the other was higher, looks like (damn) a return trip. Although now knowing how to get to the east bump fairly easily, I'll just have to deal with the crap in between. There were two logs in the cannister (old Nalgene bottle). MEB and SherpaJohn had...

    Scar Ridge, East

Wacked up to the East peak of Scar ridge on Sat. 7/14. A friend joined Yogi Jr. and I with his dog, Moby. Took the East Pond trail from the Kanc to the height-of-land. Here there are nice open fern covered spaces, but you quickly encounter steep spruce infested, blowdown ridden New England...

    NH100's info

Where can the best info on NH100's or 3k's be found? I find stuff on this site, and I use Fred Shirley's site often as well. And there are others. I guess I'm looking more for routes, good and bad, stuff like that. There is tons of info on NE100's out there but limited on the lesser peaks.

    Bemis - 6/23

I did find the canister Albee and saw your notes. As for the dog (Yogi jr.) he's a little young and rambunctious at 1-1/2 years old yet to let go the leash. First squirrel and I'd be spending my day on an unplanned bushwhack to who-knows-where! Does anyone know when the tower was abandoned or...

    Bemis - 6/23

I haven't posted for a while now, so I thought this would be a good trip to report on. Albee's report from 6/18 was a great guide. I actually printed it and took it with me. I will add that the first 2/3 of this hike is awesome! Nice leisurely walk on moss and grass covered trail. Easy to...

    Baxter 6/16 - 6/18

We did it and I completed the NE 4000'ers on N. Brother and NE 100 Highest on Fort. It was wet and the hiking was miserable. I will post a more detailed trip report tomorrow. All trails are open except Saddle as it is still socked in with snow and ice.

    Baxter 6/16 - 6/18

For anyone interested. I have a 6 person shelter at Roaring Brook this Thursday, 6/16. Two people have canceled so there are three openings if anyone is interested. There is also a crew of 6 of us staying at Katahdin Stream 6/17 and 6/18 and three of us will hopefully be finishing the NE100's...

    Calling Portland, ME hikers

MEB/Crooker/All, I actually posted without looking at the calendar AND bone-headily missed the part about Saturdays being out. We are actually hiking the 11th and will likely do Success I guess. Sundays are out for us for now. Anyone is willing to join us. And also keep us in mind for any...

Baldface S-N, Circle Trail & Bicknell Ridge

Ellen and I climbed South and North Baldface from 113 on Saturday 5/28. We took Baldface Circle trail to the shelter and up the South slabs to the South peak. Then across the ridge to the North peak and down Bucknell. All trails were amazingly dry. The slabs were fine with only slight trickles...

    Calling Portland, ME hikers

Crooker, I am in Southern NH, but my fiancée (Ellen, has a few posts here and there) is in S. Portland, just over the bridge. (Highly recommend Beal St. BBQ if you haven't been). Anyway, we are planning something for the 12th as well and were considering Mt. Success. We were up Goose Eye last...

    Scar Ridge 5/14/05

There were several colorful entries in that log. We were actually feeling pretty good that we had a very easy trek up (2.5 hours). But the Scar gods must have sensed our smugness and sent us for a hellish return trip. AND, unfortunately I decided to turn my GPS on and track this wonderful route...

    Scar Ridge 5/14/05

Decided, site unseen, that we would pass on attempting to ford the Hancock branch and take East Pond to the Height-of-Land and over the ridge. However, Tripoli Rd. was still gated at Russell Pond Rd. So, plan B was check on the creek level at Big Rock, and if impassable, plan C was to hike up...
