    HIRA and WMNF fees

More legal activity = More need for judges. And the endless discussion of the topics and the need to review/enforce in excruciating detail drives the need. But that's just my opinion.

    HIRA and WMNF fees

I wonder what the cost to taxpayers is for all the legal wrangling on both sides? If we didn't have to pay all those expensive lawyers and judges to interpret what the other expensive lawyers and judges wrote we'd likely have so much money in the budget that most everything would be fee free...

FCC pulls the plug on LightSquared radio interference with GPS

The statement was not meant to indicate that there would be no interference with GPS. The statement was to provide clarity that there was no direct impact to the defined spectrums but to those on the "fringe". I wouldn't say that the post or the CNN report was incorrect. More a matter of...

FCC pulls the plug on LightSquared radio interference with GPS

...problem documented (CNN) that GPS has strayed from their defined spectrums into that LightSquared wants to use. Problem is not with the new guy but with the existing not being held to standards.

Keystone pipeline East - Portland Pipeline could carry tar sand crude thru whites

I'm not an oil/crude expert by any means but what I have seen and read of the subject in local news sources is that the local opposition is to the pumping of the more corrosive tar sand crude, rather than "traditional" crude and the fear of increased likelihood of a leak. Whether there is merit...

    Budget Pulk

And it worked! Not the most challenging hike but my little sled worked well enough. My friend Pete and I took a hike up Sawyer River road to Sawyer Pond Trail Friday morning. We spent a couple nights at the pond campground and came back the same way on Sunday. I took a fairly heavy full...

That was the intent of this one. Build from materials I already had on hand.

Holds a pack. That's all I need. And if it breaks I can still carry everything out.

Take a look at the pictures Jake. We think alike. The only plumbing PVC is the material for the rails and the "T" on the poles.

Getting towed near Mt. Tremont trailhead

All I can think of with this are the folks who park in the no parking area at the gym so they're closer to the door. Only to get inside and run for 10 miles on the tradmill... I guess they just don't like the cold... :D

    Budget Pulk

Since AndyF posted a thread about a simple pulk made from a foam sled I've been meaning to give it a try. Well my friend Pete and I are planning a trip to Sawyer Pond next week so I figured I'd give it that try. I played around with various things starting with simply attaching a pair of...

Wife worked there temp. And I would in a heartbeat. Overall they have great stuff. Just some of the touristy stuff is "of lesser quality". And thanks!

At least there's truth in advertising

SSSteps? As in walk?!?!?!:eek: People actually walk?:eek: You'll need to get a remote camera set up to view it so you won't have to do all that walking!

With all due respect there's a reference to the character Sheldon Cooper floating here somewhere but I won't go there..

At least there's truth in advertising

Disclaimer: I think I try to be positive about most things and I'm posting this because I found it a bit comical. I'm honestly a fan of most things Bean because of their quality and because they certainly stand behind their products. My wife brought home one of those combination...

what do you wear for pants?

Over 10 - Standard poly tights under EMS/Bean zip-offs. Pant legs tuck nicely into gaiters. Under 10 - Bergoline tights under the same pants with the same tuck option. Also carry a pair of GoreTex overpants in case it gets too wet.

    Whisperlights in Winter

I've had my WhisperLight for a number of years and never had a problem. I don't go out much except in winter. Key to this stove and most any gear is to maintain it. Keep it clean. Lubricate. Change out the o-rings on the pump a regular basis. I'm sure there are "better" stoves just as...
