Nice TR Pete. Too bad you didn't get any views. Garfield is an awesome peak. It was my very first 4K peak in the Northeast so it is kind of special for me. I have been up there a few times, however, I have yet to have a brew at the summit. I guess I'll have to go back :D !

Perhaps you could plan a TCT end-to-end for the gathering. This event is sponsored regularly by the Taconic Hiking Club. They issue a patch for completing the 29 miles, but I believe only during their sponsored events. Perhaps something could be coordinated with them. I did it a few years...

Actually, HarryK and I had all of that when we hiked Hale on my birthday. It seemed appropriate to have hail on Hale. We got all of that, including 2 rainbows on our walk out. They were predicting potential hail yesterday when we hiked Hale again, but we didn't get it.

Yes, the cascades were beautiful! The last time I did Marshall it was just a small brook. I thought that was beautiful with the moss on the rocks. It was nice to have a different experience. And you are also right about the leantos!

It was indeed a wet weekend! However, I'm glad I went. It was a pleasure to be out there in good company in spite of the rain and mud.
