If you had 3 days in the Grand Canyon & Sedona, what would be your MUST DO's?

I have to chuckle regarding comments on driving, we routinely drive 3 plus hours one way to hike in the Whites :-) Thanks for the great recommendations for our GC "sampler" trip!

If you had 3 days in the Grand Canyon & Sedona, what would be your MUST DO's?

We only have time for a quick Grand Canyon "primer" trip now. No cabins available for any of our dates, rep said they book 13 months in advance - there is actually only one single male dorm bunk at Phantom Ranch available now on our travel dates ;-), I think we will stick with our Sedona suite...

Something tells me Rocket21 hikes ALOT and probably as a result comes in contact with more sledders :-)

If you had 3 days in the Grand Canyon & Sedona, what would be your MUST DO's?

MichaelJ and I are heading to Sedona AZ in the beginning of March! We have 3 FULL DAYS to explore, and hope to spend the first two at the Grand Canyon (South Rim) and the third in Sedona. Looking for tips from those who have been before, what are your two MUST DO day hikes in the Grand Canyon...

GPS Dog Trackers -- does anyone have any experience with them??

Pemi is trained a herding a"fetch" so that makes Gem tough to lose but I'd still like something to pinpoint Gem's location On the slim chance was ever needed :-)

Thanks so much, Ed . I forgot about the Kinsmans - that was New Year's Eve 2006 or '07. I think we also saw you on Pico - but didn't recognize eachother from VfTT until later on.

Hiker dies on Bondcliff Christmas Eve

3 with one other hiker, 1 with a small group. Kind hard to spot a car solo :-), but I see (and agree with) your point. FWIW I hike solo quite a bit but wouldn't do anything with that much above treeline in winter solo without a stellar forecast and on a weekend where lots of other folks are...

Personal experiences with emergency locator devices

I've had no problems as long as I am stationary for five minutes - IIRC the User's Manual states this is necessary.
