    I don’t have any pics but it looks to me like the boot should be farther forward. That strap looks like it goes over the instep, not the toes. But it’s been years since I’ve seen any of that style binding and I wasn’t really paying attention to how they were attached.

    April 8 *should* still be snowy and cold enough for the logging roads to be open and the trails not too muddy or busy. On May 13 2022 I hiked up Coburn Mountain to camp and there was still 4-6 feet of snow on the woods trail 2/3 of the way up. Same with Number 5 Mountain a little farther west...

    Not even close, microspikes stick so much better on ice than snowshoes because your weight is concentrated on a much smaller area, which is the exact opposite of what snowshoes are designed to do. Surface area is not your friend when moving on ice.
