    Thermos

Thus far it appears that Nissan and Hydroflask are winning with Hydroflask in the lead. I have one from Starbucks and two from EMS. None of them fit the bill but Starbucks is not bad. It's tall, narrow and holds approx 3 cups. I am going to try to boil water and fill Starbucks about 11 pm...

Let's bee honest and tell the truth.

I joined J Carter and voted MYOB. I don't like that term but don't care for "dumb poll" either. I am way to advanced in years to care about mileage and elevation gain. My priority is fun, and only fun. My body dictates mileage and gain on any given day, and no two days are alike. It's...

Let's bee honest and tell the truth.

Not true....I descend downstairs into my living room or downstairs into my yard, and occasionally into my basement.

    Doggie sleeping bag?

Is your Swiss Mt Dog living in the house in an overheated home and spending minimal time outside? Mine is a "house" dog but is out most of the day. Her choice. The colder, the better, and the heat in the house can be down to 55-60. I have had to shut the heat off in my truck and freeze...

A New Club, A New Patch, Three New Members - Mt. Moriah 11-2-12

I think the patch reflect what I often think at this age. You should not quit even if the day comes when you have to use a walker and hike on easy trails. Anything is possible. We might have to modify our adventures but we certainly can still enjoy them. To me if reflects "tenacity in pursuit!"

Anyone have a dog that doesn't like to hike?

Have you thought of getting another dog? It could be the motivation he needs to "take a hike", and you would have an alternate to go hiking with if he showed no interest. This is a great organization and the young woman who writes the trail reports does a very thorough job describing how...

Anyone have a dog that doesn't like to hike?

Hking lady....you are doing the right thing not pushing him beyond his limits. Whatever the reason, there are dogs that simply do not enjoy hiking. My first Akita would be OK doing daily walks to our local reservoir, at her pace only, and loved to hang out. I took her up a trail a few...

    Man vs Women

Can someone please start a "dog" thread or a "should we pay for our rescues thread"??? PLEASE! And as Raven said "we do love controversy". There is always the temptation to look and see if someone has said something really stupid yet, but hopefully we won't.

The Hurricane Exchange or "Brother can you spare a 'D' ?"

YOu are right on. I use them in the freezer to keep some soup, casseroles etc. cold. I freeze those to and hope that I slow the thaw down enough with my block ice that it last me the 5-7 days it takes to get the power back on. I jam it all in the freezer. I will try the snow/ice, with...

The Hurricane Exchange or "Brother can you spare a 'D' ?"

We are soooo LUCKY! I don't think the vast majority, if not all of us, would have any problem surviving in this kind of storm and worse. I do love having an IPHONE because I know I can charge it on my car battery and perhaps access a site I might really want info from. I froze blocks of ice...

What is with the freaking red squirrels?

I totally agree with what your saying and would do the same. It's just that killing should not be the only option if there is something more humane we can do to prevent the problem. Once you reinforce your home, etc and they still find a way in, dispatching them might very well be the only...

I like Tom_D's idea of making your own patch and awarding it to yourself.

What is with the freaking red squirrels?

Red or grey...big or small....they are only trying to survive. There lives are as important to them as ours are to us. They to have families. Photo Tufts Wildlife Clinic
