    Drop a Dime

The way the thread drift is going it seems like more about “ Dropping a Dukie”.

    Drop a Dime

Thanks for the review on what could be a potentially crappy situation.

    Drop a Dime

Thanks for the follow up. Glad these perps were caught. Such simple rules to follow. At least some justice on this occasion. Reminds me of the women who carried her dog on that trail a few years back and then blabbed about it all over the Internet. Except these three probably didn’t realize they...

What are the guidelines presently? Delisted peaks are grandfathered? Thanks for any info in advanced.

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

Ahhh.... the old age discussion. IMO neither the Daks are harder than the Whites or visa versa. They are similar yet different. I will say a good portion of both ranges in the modern age of hiking are easier in the Winter than the Summer. Especially with all the packing out of trails and the...

    Leaking MSR fuel bottles

I actually landed up loaning my MSR parts kit to someone at Crag one night after their rig blew a gasket. Bench test your stove before you head out to avoid any inconvenience.

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

Here's a refreasher. It was more like 9:30 PM. For a one time experience and considering it was during the pandemic I'd call it a bit dated. https://www.vftt.org/threads/mt-colden-loop-advice-needed.61409/#post-455492 To each his own. They had a plan that was not fully researched and had to...

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

That's a pretty dated trip report. I remember reading it. Was he in violation? Maybe he will chime in and clarify. I really don't let others' perceptions I read about online affect my attitude about where and what I do. Did a report about a messy outhouse in Baxter deter me from going back there...

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

LOL. Maybe all hikers that have been awarded a 46er patch and carried a rock up Skylight should have their membership revoked until they go back to the summit and retrieve the rock they brought up in the first place. That would reduce the pile significantly.

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

The rules are not that hard to follow. People say the same about Baxter until they actually immerse themselves in the experience. With that said I have hiked and skied all over the globe and have dealt with all kinds of rules, regulations and permits. The ADK is a piece of cake when it comes to...

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

I like looping from the Works approaches. The camping not just the hiking from there is a crown jewel of the NE if you have the time. I never have had much time to just day hike The High Peaks although I have. But my best experiences have been multi day efforts really because of the distance...

    "Traditional" Route To Skylight

Not a peak but something to be said about Panther Gorge makes doing Skylight and Haystack together in the same trip. There is also Redfield and Cliff up for the grab too. Also Gray can be mixed in. Personally, a lot of the ADK for me was Backpacking and Camping. I live 5 hours if not more away...

Another NH 4K completion - Posted without comment

I won’t be doing hiking with my Pet Rabbit any time to soon. Whoops…I almost forgot I do not have a Pet Rabbit.

Another NH 4K completion - Posted without comment

I hope this person finds healing through this experience as the mountains I’m sure have done for many of us here. Although I agree with you on the list completion branding. I’m personally not a badge collector but this sort a thing could be demeaning to those that have actually climbed the...

    Mt Monadnock Lost Hiker

I got turned off on any kind of meet up group hike a while back when the guy who was supposedly leading the hike was not there to lead when the hike was supposed to start. After waiting awhile the rest of the group decided to go. Ironically only about 5 minutes in to the hike the so proclaimed...
