trail conditions on East Osceola from Greeley Ponds?

MadRiver just called from Tripoli Road and told me the North Slide on the Tripyramids was covered in ice. Take from that what you will -- I know you're talking about East Osceola, but, as you know, the Osceolas are close to the Tripyramids.

Lost Dog on Mt. Washington - Found :)

The dog was lost near Hermit Hut. Shuttlebugs from Hike-NH says he is climbing Tuckerman's today to look for her.

Many thanks for the greenie! I agree, Sage is lucky. Alex has never seen a moose on the trail, and she was a bit jealous. :)

Lost Dog on Mt. Washington - Found :)

I copied and pasted this from the Hike-NH forums. Shuttlebug is the author. "My nephew lost a Swiss Mountain Dog on Tuckerman Trail on Mount Washington Wednesday October 26th. The dog is microchipped but tags on collar were missing. Please call 781-690-6520 if you any info. Dog was lost at...

Moose Encounters on Carrigain. October 25, 2011

Thanks for the helpful advice. I know we risk tricky conditions since winter's fast approaching, and Sage understands that I may insist we take another route. We'll see what that weekend's weather brings. If she doesn't get to do the slides on November 6, then she can re-do the Tripyramids...

Moose Encounters on Carrigain. October 25, 2011

Raymond, I've a feeling the numbers had everything to do with the rutting season. On the way up, there were two (a male and a female), on the way down, there were three (a male, a female...and another male). Sage still has Isolation and the Tripyramids. We hope to do Isolation this week or...

    Sunday, November 6, Sage's 48 Finish

If we can manage to get Isolation within a week (which might be challenging, depending on what the weather throws our way), then Sage plans to finish the NH48 on Sunday, November 6 on the Tripyramids. She has her heart set on the slides, so that's what we hope to do. If there's ice or if the...

Mt Arab firetower suffers extensive vandalism damage

Agreed. I'd feel a lot less upset about this if it was their first offense. It would still be awful, of course, and the perps would still need to be punished. However, when it comes to juvenile repeat offenders...call me old-fashioned, but I think the parents need to get their acts together.

    Flume and Liberty (Sage's 4Ks #43 and #44). October 16, 2011

Thanks, Ed! Many thanks, DaveSunRa. I snapped that picture in one quick second during our Bonds trip in the summer of 2009 -- I'm lucky it turned out halfway decent. The folks at Crown/Broadway Books pulled it from my blog and asked if they could use it for the cover. The stick in Alex's...
