Thanks Ellen, It's rare to get so close to fawns that young. They only stayed put long enough for a couple of quick shots.

    Slow Hike

Thanks Sabrina, He behaved himself. Didn't have to leash him. He did cause some comotion. Just as we topped out near Engine Hill I heard all kinds of sceaming coming from up the trail. Turns out a group of girl scouts camped for the night. They thought Dooley was a bear.

    Slow Hike

While on the Engine Hill Bushwack last week with my Lab Dooley and good friend Ed Smith. I saw alot of deer and moose sign. I didn't see any animals because we were moving pretty quickly and I didn't pay attention to the wind. But that's ok as Mt Isolation as a day hike does not afford one the...

    Mt. Isolation 7/14

Took the Rocky Branch Trail to the Engine Hill Bushwack. The birch glades are just as pretty as they are in winter. The only problem is the firns are at least waist high. Slowed us down some. The area of the tent sites has several blowdowns. Some need to be removed. Davis path in good shape...

    boot suggestions appreciated -wide forefoot

For the past year and a half I've been wearing Zamberlan Vios GTs. I've got well over 100 peaks on them and am not disappointed. Not alot of break in time needed. Took them over Welch Dickey for a break in hike and that was it. My feet never get wet and for a leather boot they are not that...

Hey Patrick, Nice trip report. The scenery is certainly alot better than my last trip in that area. At least you didn't need to use a wide angle lense.

    Wildcat Ridge Traverse 6/26

Did the traverse north to south. 19 Mile Parking Lot was nearly full. Some traffic from the hut. All the trails are in fine shape. Only encountered one blowdown just above the slide. Usual mudpits, but avoidable. There are several piles of logs and boards stashed along the ridge. Looks like bog...

Great job Larissa, That is an impressive time. Liz and I were up there Sunday as well. We did the Bonds traverse in about 10 hrs. Pretty impressive to think you did the whole loop in less time. I agree the views were real nice.

    Bonds Traverse, North South

Zealand Trail in good shape. The hut was very busy but the trails were quiet. Only ran into two groups all day. Z-cliff's views were great. Twinway was also in good shape. Usual mudpits but avoidable. We could hear the wind howling right from the start. When turning off the Twinway towards...

    North and Middle Tripyramid 6/11

We took the Pine Bend Brook trail today. I thought we might have the trail to ourselves but there was quite a bit of traffic. The trail is in overall good shape. Not nearly as much mud as we expected. What there is, is avoidable. There are several blowdowns on this trail but none got in the way...
