Jackson and Aborted Attempt on Cannon, 1/15/2011

Hey Earl, Nice bumping into the two of you. Most of our hike was very pleasant. We could see some weather coming through the notch from the south. But it must have blown in very quickly. We were surprised to hear you had to turn around. Sounds like you made the right decision.

    Mt. Garfield

Parked at 5 corners. The construction of the bridges posed no problems as two are neary done and one has a large plank to cross on. Very easy. The walk to the summer trailhead is barebootable. From the summer trailhead to the summit we used micro-spikes. Carried crampons but not needed. Some of...

We parked at the end of Little River Rd. Lucked out as the rain stopped as soon as we crossed the bridge. The bushwack to the summer trailhead was soft and melting fast. The North Twin Trail is in good shape. Easy going to the FWT. The FWT had been broken out but do to the warm conditions it had...

    four Wildcats and a Moose

It had been a while since Liz and I hiked the Wildcats and James needed them for his 48, so Sunday was the day. With the recent rain we thought the climb up E Peak from Pinkham might be slippery, so we opted for the ski trails. We also thought the ski trails would have some nice foliage. Only...
