Highpoint : Montana. Granite Peak (12799’) Southwest Couloir- July 24th 2010

Granite was planned for months, but was suppose to be climbed after Borah(ID), so we would be more acclimatized and there would be less snow up there. We were already in Idaho when we checked the weather forecast, and saw four sunny icons for Cooke City MT… Anyone who once planned doing that...

Highpoint: Utah. Kings Pk (13 528 ft). July 20, 2010

(I got inspired by Trish ;) ) First HP of our 2010 summer trip was Utah. Prior to this, we decided to climb Twin Pks (American Fork) near Salt Lake City for acclimatation (my first real 4th class experience, awesome). Day 1 of our 3 days trip in the High Uintas Wilderness was a 10 miles...

    Fatality on Grand Teton

On the 21 we were in the Wasatch-Cache Nat'l Forest (doing Kings Pk UT), not to far from the Teton. Impossible to get some rest between 12 and 2AM, as the thunder kept rollling loudly, the strong winds were blowing and the rain was falling hard. I can't imagine how bad it would be above...

    Why would someone eat this?

Confirm : It was a reality show from Quebec (*SHAME* !!). The group of hikers had to do has if they were in the 19th century, and the report -in french only, sorry : Cyberpresse says they were over confident. They've been told by a local guide that plant was ok to eat. Some of them almost died.

Southwest couloir was a blast for us, but I think you'll have a more direct approach via the normal route (Gooseneck Pinnacle), coming from the east. Too bad you'll miss the Wind River Brewing Pub in Pinedale !! (http://www.windriverbrewingco.com/splash.html) Have a great trip guys, I wish you...

Sugarloaf (Nash Stream Forest) June 6th 2010

I was waiting since April for an open gate on the Nash Stream Rd, and it turns out today was the first possible date for my NH100 finish. The trail is in good shape, some work have been done. Still few blowdowns but nothing major. No views though, it was a very wet day, all the way (I did...

Vly and Bearpen Mountains 5/31/10 (Catskills)

When I did those two peaks last month, a dog welcomed me right after I parked my car there, barking, and then peeing on the front wheel... I like the turkeys MUCH better.
