Garmin 60CSX no longer recognized by Windows 10 computer

Thank you. You popped the card out and then reinserted it? While GPS was attached to computer.

Garmin 60CSX no longer recognized by Windows 10 computer

Rehabbing from ankle surgery, I haven't had the chance to take the GPS out for a walk in quite a while. Returning home yesterday I attempted to download a track and the computer wouldn't recognize the device. Garmin customer service had no answer other than switching to Base Camp to download to...

    GPS co-oridinates

Though I strongly agree with hikers knowing how to navigate, it's too bad the replies came across as scolding the OP for asking a question.

    Saying goodbye to an old friend...Terra T Traildog Oct 13 2003-November 15 2016

Sabrina, just saw this. I've followed Terra's hikes for years in trip reports and photos. "Hug your trail doggies tight. There is just never enough time on Earth with them". You are so right. My deepest condolences.

Plastic bags with dog droppings left at trailheads?

I'm a rail trail steward for the section near our home. We deal with poop left by owners right on the trail, and filled poop bags left along the rail trail and at road crossings. I suspect the poop bags seen along hiking trails are dog owners intending to grab the bags on their way out...

Best restaurant for post-hike dinner in Whites

There are two sides on the moderator's end of the forum. The one where the moderators step in and edit or delete, earning the accusation that we're censoring and how VFTT is overly moderated. The other, to stand back and hope common sense prevails and let the community get the thread back to the...

    Coyotes

With so many people hiking, there's always the chance of an encounter and even a scary one. But they are smart, wary, and hunted. Unless rabid or starving for a medical reason or age, highly unlikely anything will happen to you.

    Beyond Peak Capacity In NY

I agree with your comments about so much to see with the remote and glorious other areas - it's where I mostly hike. At the same time, the money it being poured into tourism and when adding in social media, the influx is all headed to the Adirondack and Catskill high peaks. Tom is correct, for...

    Beyond Peak Capacity In NY

It seems the tipping point is finally being reached in the ADKs and Cats. 1,100 hikers on Cascade last weekend. It appears that the dollars being poured into publicizing them by the governor's office just MIGHT get us some add'l ranger staff that's been sorely missing the last decade.

    ADK Question

Rangers give out warnings and tickets in the E High Peaks. I believe hiking with leashed dogs isn't fun for man nor beast on the peaks which is why I only 'whack in the EHP or go elsewhere. With the huge increase in ADK and Catskill hikers over the last couple of years, a lot less patience by...
