    Flags on the 48 2012

Maybe they meant "Allentown Pennsylvania"... at least that's my take on it. -Dr. Wu

    NH 48 speed record

I'm still waiting to hear why Ryan skipped Mt. Clay. I realize that Henry Clay wasn't a president but he tried hard to be one... He's even got a skullet. -Dr. Wu

    NH 48 speed record

It's extra weight now. I'd smash the thing and chuck it in Flat Mountain Pond. -Dr. Wu

    NH 48 speed record

What the HELL is he doing near around Flat Mountain Pond!? No 4000'ers there!? -Dr. Wu

    NH 48 speed record

He skipped Mt. Clay. What a loser. Go back and do Mt. Clay or it doesn't count!! Mookie thinks that Mt. Clay is one of the 48 (and South Twin is not, that's why...) -Dr. Wu

Good Luck!! Are you skipping any of the summits? Some of them are boring and might not be worth your while. Just saying. -Dr. Wu

    Vermont 100 2012?

Haha, Brian was HOT on Leigh Schmidt's tail when he caught up to me (I was running the 100k -- the JV race) and I heard reports all through the race about Amy battling back & crossed the line a few minutes before she did so I was able to see her finish! She ran a tremendous race! Us "413 Trail...

    Vermont 100 2012?

Were you with the Trail Animals people? I heard they had a bunch of people running. Who was your runner? What time did you cross the finish line? The weather was indeed nice and fortunately after it cooled off late in the day a nice, warmer breeze came through in the evening. Must've been a nice...

Mt Washington Sat. 7/7/12, up Huntington Ravine/down Great Gulf

Wow! That's quite a nice picture of Spaulding Lake! Looks more like a picture you'd expect to see of something out West. I've always seen pictures of Spaulding Lake from at the shore, never a bit above it. Nice job. -Dr. Wu

    NH 48 Dirrettisima

What's worse is they don't have 40 cans of tunie fish and sour deans (each) for the trip like Mats did. They're gonna get hungry. -Dr. Wu

Does anybody hike in Vibram Five Fingers

Just go to EMS -- they have a million new varieties that are pretty beefy on the bottom. http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/barefoot-sports/trekking.htm -Dr. Wu

    Pineland Farm 50k Trail Run

Your first 50 miler was Bear Mountain. Pretty ballsy. It's a lot of fun and after a while your body adjusts. I feel like a trail 50 k is a lot less punishing on my body than even a road half marathon. Even some hikes are rougher... I did a Pemi Loop the week before Pinelands. I felt kinda...

    Pineland Farm 50k Trail Run

I didn't do a write up, really. It was my second 50 miler and I took it pretty conservative ... the aid stations were quite epic, I could hear the noise and music and cheering from the one with all the cowgirls for miles before I arrived and it was quite awesome going through that one as well as...

    Pineland Farm 50k Trail Run

Pretty cool! I must've seen you there at some point -- I ran the 50 miler. It was a great day for running and a really nice course! The aid stations were epic! There were a bunch of VFTT'ers there! Too bad I had no idea that you were running. Also, you were at Seven Sisters? The same dude (Ross...

    Mt. Adams=Mt. Jefferson? Historical question

Mt. Clay should have been called Mt. Hamilton due to Alexander Hamilton's close proximity to George Washington both during the American Revolution and his first cabinet administration. Calling it Mt. Hamilton back then would have been more controversial than calling it Mt. Reagan is now. -Dr. Wu

    M-M trail question

I don't have it in front of me, but I don't think the AMC map shows the current parking area. Here's a map. -Mr. Kill

    M-M trail question

The M-M trail parking area is on the East side of 141 and is small and is directly across the street from a Veterinary Clinic or something. People usually don't park there. Further North along the road (1/4 mile, maybe) on the West Side there are two pulloffs. If you park there you can cross 141...

What Do You Carry When Trailrunning?

I have a amphipod handheld -- not because it's particularly good but because I have it. I like it more than the Nathan handhelds though. For longer, unsupported runs I have a Nathan Race Vest... I took the water bladder out because I hate it. Instead, I put 1 L Platypus soft water bottles in...
