    Training with barefoot running

Not barefoot. minimalist. I've done a few runs barefoot but nothing substantial. I do road (and trail) running using a mix of Nike Free (3.0 and 5.0) as well as Vibram Five Finger KSO and Inov-8 Roclite 295 for hiking / trail running. This is in addition to a stronger workout regime including...

Another sad story from the Whites

In 30 days I'll be half-way to 71.... :) But I agree with Tom... if I'm going to go better to do it on the trails than linger. My only suggestion is that I'd leave money in my pocket as a "tip" for the search and rescue guys that gotta carry me out... -Dr. Wu

    Pemi Loop Alternatives?

What is it? Toolshed Hill I hear has a great 0.3 mi loop option. People use it in the summer and winter. -Dr. Wu

    Sounds rather audacious, no?

Give me a break... it's just one person's opinion. Bright colored clothing and tents diminishes wilderness? Guy Waterman was great in a lot of ways but just because he said it doesn't mean it's some physical law that we all must govern by. -Dr. Wu

    Pemi Loop Alternatives?

Before they took the ******* bridge out, you could walk the Wilderness Trail all the way out 5 miles or something, cross the bridge, then walk back on the Pemi East Side Trail. Can't do it no more: you gotta swim. -Dr. Wu

Two down, one to go... Pretty amazing time! Just about every FKT in the Whites has been broken this year, except one of course (3d15h51m), so.... Congrats! -Dr. Wu

    Cath Goodwin Blitzes the NH48!

What an amazing year it's been for records and all around fast times! Hope the trend continues and that some of them more *ehem* experienced hikers / athletes / trail runners inspire some more younger ones to try out some things like this. Congrats on the fast time, Cath. -Dr. Wu

Shell Pond Loop, a first trail run.

Awesome! The trail running thing is getting infectious these days. Good luck finding other routes and stuff. Of course you can also just incorporate running components into your hikes as well. I find that I get less ankle twists running than I do walking. Much better way to do things! -Dr. Wu

Stupid Scree Wall on Mt. Bond

It is redundant as in "Dr. Wu roots the stupid out of every situation..." If anything, the dead wood reinforced stone wall is going to make someone a nice campfire ring with fuel and even added stones for a wind shelter. I still advocate protecting the little alpine zone up there but better...

Where to have 9th Annual ADK Gathering and BBQ??

Barnes Field (NH) would be somewhat of an interesting and unique location. I noticed that it's not a voting option but I thought I'd just throw that out there. -Dr. Wu
