Mount Washington Observatory summit Volunteer 3/30-4/6-2016

Just wondering, do you plan the menus before you go up there. There's obviously no running off to the corner store to pick something up. :)

Looks like the NEHH Six Pack is going to be looking different in the future

A number of years ago when I had a long and very nice conversation with a prominent member of the 4000 footer committee about dogs being recognized by the committee for the NE67 and the NEHH even though they had not done the peaks in Baxter park because they were not permitted in the park I was...

The Year in Review - Peakbragging 2015!

I know that most of these reports concern New England and the Whites, and even though Lauky and I had done quite a bit of hiking in the Whites and elsewhere during his early years, in 2013 when he was six we moved to North Georgia. After dabbling in a number of hikes in Georgia and NC I decided...

    Winter nh 48 canine finishers

Winter is just around the corner, well Monday evening at 11:48 PM to be precise, so I'm giving this thread a bump. This is just a reminder for those who hike with their canine companions that we are anticipating the names of any new winter NH 48 finishers. If your dog finishes you can post the...

Trail Trees - Native American trail blazing system

Inspired by this thread and after doing quite a bit of research on the net we headed out today in search of trail trees. It's not that easy because while there are a lot of photos of the trees on the net there is almost no indication of where they can be found. But...we had some success...

Trail Trees - Native American trail blazing system

I've often wondered about this tree. It's located on the AT in NC just beyond the NC/GA border.

LOST HIKER IN Spaulding mountain area maine.

Coast to Coast seems to inevitably get into extraterrestrial activity and I'm just not 'tuned' into that stuff, but I did have the same questions that were brought up in the interview. How could the coroner look at what was essentially a bag of bones an determine that she died from hypothermia...

    Recent Rescue on Washington

I never did it at night, but I never found it difficult to follow. I do think though that a person not familiar with the trail could accidentally get off that trail and onto the Huntington Ravine trail.
