    VFTT sticker sighting

That's funny; I was in North Andover today, but I have an Accent, not the Elantra. There's a lot of VFTT folks out there!

The Top 3 New Hampshire Day Hikes for First Timers (sports.yahoo.com)

Well then I guess that explains why this is one of my favorites in all of the Whites .... growing up was never an aspiration of mine ;):D.

    Walking Music

I would never have tunes on while hiking .... I want to hear everything around me outdoors at all times for naturalistic as well as safety reasons. The hiking itself, when I'm alone, helps to put me squarely in flow while still having complete awareness, unlike at the gym. When I'm hitting the...

    Helping me 'til it hurts

My thought about this is that either this is a very bad joke, OR people have gotten very lost there in the past and have been vocal about it to the powers that be after the fact ..... This goes SO far beyond, though, that it's mind-boggling ..... A place where I used to work has a trail system...

Famed Mountaineer Lincoln Hall has died

What a sad end, considering his escape from death on Everest. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-21/lincoln-hall-dies-in-sydney/3903640?WT.svl=news0

BSP - Katahdin Lake / Martin Ponds

This might be my very favorite trip report ever! The pictures alone are worth a million words. Looks like you had a fantastic trip and major kudos for having, from all appearances, a fantastic kid :). This makes me want to go out and play in the snow so very badly ....

    Snowmagedon Reports 1_12

Any new amounts to report? Heading north to hike something on Sunday ..... Any updated reports since the most recent snowfall?? It hasn't done a whole lot in Cambridge over the past day but rain, though it did turn to wet snow this evening. Thanks! :)

    North Country Economic Update

From my own experience, I would sadly say that working and living in the North Country is not all it's jacked up to be. The Mount Washington Valley, while offering some wonderful lifestyle benefits, also has its major downside. Most of the folks I know have multiple jobs just to stay afloat...

    Bear Tree?

There is certainly something new to see and learn every time I am out in the woods, so I wouldn't swear to it, but this does not appear to be the work of a black bear. Bears climb and/or scratch for a few reasons and none of them fits here: they climb beech trees predominantly, to get access...

    Chic Choc Mountains

Awesome info all. I've always been intrigued by Gaspe. Someday, but only after I make it to the Bold Coast first!

    Toe bang!

Damn! First I think it's my feet that are all screwed up, and now it may be my short legs, too?!!!! :o I gotta' say, I don't think I'm up for re-learning how to walk .... just too much on my plate right now for that! :p

    Toe bang!

Not sure if you were asking me, Ellen, but if you were here goes :p : I have fit issues with every boot I've ever worn and most shoes too. My koflachs are the boot that gives me toe bang, but I haven't had any other issues with them at all. I've worn other boots that simply don't fit ---9.5...

    Toe bang!

I'm going to have to try adding padding where I think it will help. My feet are just weird, ok?! :o I have tried thicker socks and this just seems to give me trouble around that narrow heel of mine .... I always get a rub (and at times MUCH worse than a rub --- I have had to throw away bloody...

    Toe bang!

me too! I wish I had an answer for you, but unfortunately I have this problem, too. It's really only a big issue with the koflachs, but I think my foot is just hard to fit. One foot is a good half size smaller than the other, I have been told when fitting ski boots that I have a very narrow...

I wish I were handy enough to experiment with boot screws myself, but the boots I have right now...

I wish I were handy enough to experiment with boot screws myself, but the boots I have right now (besides my Koflachs) aren't worth putting screws in anyway! Maybe next winter :D. PS I can see from the picture you wear Salomons; can I ask which one? That's the brand I'm looking at for my...
