    Skiing the East

That was my question when I first saw it. There is a little on the Facebook page under Discussion with "rules" but it has no conclusion. He posted this on the T4T forum: "Yeah, I have kind of set this up as bag all the peaks in a year, by way of skinning/ hiking up, and then skiing down to the...

    Fishers in the news

I don't think Fishers are into catch and release! :) Yeah, they are not cute little Pine Martens for sure, closer to an "Eastern" Wolverine.

Looks like the Mount Washington Observer crew had some fun last night. Here

    Adirondack Temps

I see it as -34 reported at 4:51am. Should get colder, especially when the cold comes down into the valley around sunrise.

    Adirondack Temps

I was shocked to see that too. Then I found this page. It has Old Forge at -52 once. Yet under the most days with the coldest temp in the contiguous US it has Saranac lake as #6 with 128. (recorded between '95-'05'). Berlin, NH is on there with 98 days.

    Sounds rather audacious, no?

Looks like Jason the trail vulture is going to have to wait, it was posponed. Apparently the weather gets pretty rough up there in January?

    The Value of a Patch

Why give a damn? They are just patches. Many don't register or send for patches because they don't do it for those types of reasons, the person may have just come to that way of thinking over time and got rid of it the same way you get rid of old clothes. Then again I may just like to think to...

    Tabletop 1/16/2011, with Phelps

Three of us did TT after Marcy on 1/15, we passed nine other people who had also went up. It was extremely well packed out at the time but we got 2-3 inches of snow and had the wind blowing most of the night.

11 types of people you meet on a hike

The vacuum sealed hiker: You can't see any exposed skin except their face, they have their gaiters nice and tight and pants tucked in. They know what they are doing and they are confident. They just finished the 46/48 and are now out as a king over kingdom taking along their friend who is...

Where Would You Look If you Wanted to Buy Used Hiking Apparel?

I usually wait until someone else from Guilderland post that they want to sell some gear.:) Is this male, female or both gear? Can I try it out in the Pine Bush, lol! I'm actually going over there for a night hike pretty soon.

    Ice Farming???

Along the lines of what I wrote already don't run the water in one continous flow, divert it and allow the entire surface to freeze then restart. If you just let it run your more likely to just get freeze at the base of the cliff with splash than a continous ice wall.

    Ice Farming???

I used to work in an arena where we made the hockey ice and I presume all the same priciples would apply. Basically lay down a light layer, let it freeze, repeat until thick enough they you can lay it a little heavier, basically in an amount that would allow the new water to freeze quickly...

    5 days? Yeah right!

I didn't realize thinking I'd like to do something in every month was so creative. Is this the person listed as completing in 1989?

You quoting her and then posting this is somewhat equal to walking into a church and asking the preacher if he has found religion.:)

Lost: Camera on trail to North Kinsman

I lost my camera possible between North Kinsman and the Lafayette campground on the night of 12/30. I went up to the hut looking for it Sunday and didn't see it but am taking a chance with all the melted snow that someone may have come across it. PM if member or post in trail conditions if your...

I'm happy Yves had big enough balls to carry it down.

    5 days? Yeah right!

Batteries in the spot died up near Moriah. He came in the door here in Gorham at 11:28pm so you can adjust it from the last spot ping. For some reason he said he is hungry.
