May 26-27 on Mts. Galehead, The Twins, Guyot, The Bonds, Zealand, and Hale

Great report and pics-- speaking of, are the rest on the web somewhere? I image you took dozens. Wow the sunrise was gorgeous! I've been wanting to backpack the bonds but haven't made it yet (just did the traverse from Zealand hut this winter). You absolutely made the right decision to go for...

Better Late Than Never: Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch, Old Spec 5-27

I haven't done any of those peaks and would love to-- just have my weekends full until after the traverse on June 23/24. It would be great to join you guys sometime, especially on a grouse-infested trail. You could be the sacrificial hiker;) leaving the way clear for others (kidding). Isn't it...

Anyone been up Grand Teton in mid June?

We were in the park (and Yellowstone too) a few years back and really appreciated having a down jacket for nights/mornings. Even in August it was below freezing every night yet quite hot in the day times. Have a great trip! It is soooo beautiful out there!

Taking a Break on the Moats

Heal well and soon Michael! Its amazing the thin line we walk. One moment stepping down, then a slight slip, and wham. Could happen to anyone. Great report. I've got to get to the Moats!

Six Vermont hikers helped from trail

Incredible. It's one thing when adults endanger themselves- at least they have some choice in the matter. It's another when there are such small children involved. Thankfully everyone was ok.

Better Late Than Never: Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch, Old Spec 5-27

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words Tim, Michelle, Unstrung, and Peakbagger. I did have a blast for all but the last hour and a half or so and even that was OK--- not great, but not torturous either. As for the Presi traverse, I'm definitely feeling more confident after this hike. We...

Better Late Than Never: Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch, Old Spec 5-27

Thanks Pedxing! Absolutely anther good practice, especially when going with a meetup group, but not a bad practice in general! And I'm looking forward to the traverse with you as well. This trip was a prep. My Presi hike this weekend was cancelled however. So not surprisingly, we never did...

Better Late Than Never: Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch, Old Spec 5-27

Thanks Michael. As you know I'm a big fan of certain meetup groups. Others are kinda like a blind date -- sometimes great, sometimes not so great. If you are prepared, it's ok. For me the lesson of this hike was not about meetup or even about a late start, it was about testing your batteries in...

Better Late Than Never: Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch, Old Spec 5-27

I signed up to do a Mahoosucs traverse with a meetup group-- yes I know--it’s potluck, but I am ok with that. I'd heard so much about the notch and wanted to get Old Speck for my NE 4k list, which I started recently, and, since I kinda sotra started the hundred highest too, Goose Eye as well. I...

    Success Pond Rd

I traversed the whole length of Success Pond Road 5/27 and 28 in a Nissan Quest minivan. Definitely passable by passenger cars driving slowly.

    Success Pond Rd

I replied on another forum, ahem, but will repeat it here for everyone else. I called the AMC this morning with the same question. Took a few people, but they found someone who had been there recently. Great customer service! Success Pond Road is open through Grafton Notch and Rt 26. The...

Becca and (Hiker) Ed's Excellent Birthday Adventure Hike (up Chocorua)

Great report and pics! I am sorry to have missed this one as the hike looks amazing and the company even better. It would have been fun to share a hike with other birthday buds. Maybe next year??? Hope you guys do it again! Glad you had a good time and happy birthday!

    Killington Ski Trails?

Yeah, that's what they told me. I just got a reply elsewhere that there is a well-established bushwhack around the washed out section. I think I'll avoid it anyway.
