    NIMH rechargeable battery question

The BC-900's were discontinued and were replaced by the BC-9009. Some think it was the plug unit causing the problem, some not so sure, but it appears that the problem has been fixed with the 9009 model. No melt downs have been reported since, IIRC, about Feb. of this year. If you bought one...

    Lost: Trekking poles on Tecumseh.

My absent minded friend Mike (oh boy I can't take him ANYWHERES :D ) lost his trekking poles on Tecumseh and asked me to post this in case anyone is going to be out that way: "Yeah, twice in two years, not good. They are mosy likely between the summit and the end of the Sosman at the top of...

Cool camera...not so good for hiking

I have a friend who is a professional freelance scenic photographer. He used to carry around what he called his "workhorse", an old Pentax Medium Format camera (I think it was a 645, but it's been a while so can't remember). He loved that camera dearly and did the bulk of his scenic...

    Snowshoers/XC skiers

It's funny you mention that. Last winter a group of us was coming out from doing the Tri-p's. By the time we got to the ski trail it had long since gone dark (and to boot it was snowing at a real good clip.) So we all got into our own grooves and spread out over a ways. Well, I was walking...

    Bumfagging Hill, North Face Route

A good question. If it has a job and can afford the prices, then I guess it could afford some of that overpriced North Face clothing. :D Brian

    Skookumchuck in the snow?

Done it with and without snow on the ground. Like miehoff had no problems. Bit of a long slog if your breaking trail alone, but otherwise a pretty nice trail. Brian

    Closed WMNF Roads

And so it begins! I guess this means I can't deny winter is coming any longer now. :D Brian

The Hancocks in Less Than 19 Hours

Bushwhacking in the dark is always awesome! :D I agree about a headlamp in the snow. It is a surreal thing to watch....almost hypnotic at times. Of course you do need to watch out for those XC skiers running around with no headlamp to avoid paying the WV trail fees.....but that is a long...

    AMC Awards Dinner?

Suggestion....eat elsewhere and THEN go to the ceremony. The pizza has never been known to be the best. ;) Brian

    Hit the gas?

Whats the best defense? A good offense. No seriously. At night, especially at times of the year more prone to deer collisions, I make it a point to spend a lot of time scanning the sides of the roads at night. Look for the glint from tehir eyes when your lights fall on them, or look for...

    Gentlemen thieves?

*sigh* I can't believe I am about to dignify this with a response, and yet..... sarcasm: (sahr-kaz-uhm) noun; a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark joke: (johk) noun, verb, joked, jok·ing. –noun 1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism...

Walk the Length of NH (Virtually)

Pffft, I probably average 190 miles every 6 months or less! :D And for that matter I have virtually driven (one way) the length of New Hampshire in one day. From Manchvegas to within about 5 miles of the northernmost point of the NH/Canada boarder. Where is a patch for that!? :p Brian

    Gentlemen thieves?

Just get a bunch of nice, big NRA stickers to adorn your car and leave a note that says "You never know if I am just around the corner"....that ought to insure your car is not touched. :D Brian

Unlike the plethora of Bob's and the smattering of Amy's you are the only Steve I know of. Kind of odd if you think about considering how common the name Steve is. ;)
