Emergency Backup Battery for Cell Phones

my X-husband just made me one of these; http://www.ladyada.net/make/mintyboost/index.html I have not used it yet, but it charges anything with a USB port. Hum, maybe I should have an explosives expert take a look at it first...

BANFF Film Festival in Portsmouth trip report

I went to the Portsmouth show as well. As always, a great selection of amazing films with wonderful and creative people and breathtaking suroundings. Impossiable to pick a favorite, but I have to say, I was thinking about how I missed out skiing from 'stuck-again heights' to Merrill field to...

    And then there were two...

we flipped a coin and took the trail back. Not sure if it was faster or not. We thought we would run into the um, two large groups of hikers at the bushwhack! (since they wouldn't have had more than ten in a group there must have been more than one and they just hiked at the same pace I think...

    And then there were two...

At long last Geneva has hiked to a new summit for her. Leaving her only 2 on the NH48 list left. We hiked with a wonderful friend up to Isolation today. It should have been with many friends, but for some reason we were late to get started. Isolation seemed to be the place to...

Coyotes: Followed by a pack in Belknaps. Anyone else ever have an issue with them?

I took my dog out walking the other day, right after we got a little snow. There were fresh tracks all over the place, I just thought at first they were someone else out walking their dog. Then I noticed no boot tracks, and I thought 'dog on the loose.' No big deal, I live in Wonalancet and...

Where the Sun Never Sets, a 1,500-Mile Trip by Sea Kayak

Just saw this article and wanted to share. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/18/sports/arctic-adventure-a-1500-mile-trip-by-sea-kayak.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp Have not had a chance to read the whole thing yet. I'm not so sure how close I would want a polar bear to me in camp... Probably...

    International Dinner and Adventure Series

The AMC puts on this series every winter season from January through the end of March. The food is usually great, the company is fun and the presentations are mostly breathtaking. They happen every Wednesday night, except for Vacation week, featuring a different region and it's cuisine (or...

Mt Morgan via Mt Morgan Trail

Geneva and I had a nice walk up to the always pleasant Mt Morgan ledges and summit today. The trail was almost entirely void of snow, just a dusting here and there. It did have a decent amount of ice and frozen ground, as well as some mud, and a few open running streams. I bare booted it for...

    Primus Multi Fuel Stove ?

Got a reply from Primus today. Yes Chip, that is the correct kit to repair it. I've searched for which model mine is, seems like it was called an Everest maybe... We bought it ages ago, and I don't think they carry the same ones now. Kit will be on the way soon. Thanks. :)

    Primus Multi Fuel Stove ?

I wrote to them back in October when it happened, and again this morning before I posted Here, but I haven't heard back from them. That does look like the same part in that kit, I'll have to look up the exact model I have to make sure it is correct. Thanks!

    Primus Multi Fuel Stove ?

Here is a pix of it... you can see the little ridge in the tube where it SHOULD be attatched.

    Primus Multi Fuel Stove ?

On my last trip using this stove the little fuel screen that 'should' be on the end of the plastic tube that is inserted into the fuel can popped off. I've looked around online and can't find the proper way to fix this. It doesn't just pop back on, not sure how it was originally attatched...

Garfield Ridge East and West Peaks

Really fun hike and Bushwhacks to Garfield Ridge East and West Peaks via Gale River Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail and down Garfield Trail. The morning was just the right temp to hike along and not be too warm or cold. Well, until I took a little dip in the first river crossing and tried to...

    Mt. Katherine via Pasture Path.

Wanted to get out and walk the cobwebs off the snowshoes today, so decided on a nice little trail to get them all warmed up for winter hiking. Ferncroft parking lot was all plowed out and there were even a few other cars there. I was thinking of heading up to Blueberry Ledges, but when I got to...

Jennings Peak and Sandwich Dome via Sandwich MT Trail and Algonquin Trail

No, he means the Sandwich Creamery! :) YUMMY! But nope, didn't make it down there yesterday. The ride on Sandwich Notch Road was enough for poor Geneva after the hike. And she doesn't get to partake in the ice cream, so there is no benefit as far as she is concerned for going to the...

Jennings Peak and Sandwich Dome via Sandwich MT Trail and Algonquin Trail

We got a bit of a late start at 12:30 after finally deciding on a destination and the car spot. As Pa so clearly pointed out, walking through that first line of trees after walking through the field and by the transfer station at the beginning is like walking into another world! The trail...

    Geneva still holding at 45

I was considering hiking to Owls Head on Sunday to get Geneva one peak closer to visiting all 48, but the offer to hike Ike > Pierce > Jackson sounded way more fun on a decent day! Fun always seems to win out, guess that is why it is taking me so long to get her to all the 48! It...
