    Non-hiking deathmarches

I know some of the really good climbers do all the Huntington gullies in a day. I also heard of a guy climbing up Damnation gully, dropping down into the Great gulf, climbing a WI 3/4 gully in there (name escapes me), climbing back up and then down huntington again - and i don't recall all the...

    Your best "Worst Trip"

pressie traverse attempt in 2005 on a cold, wet June day with the the gang that was going to Rainier. got completely shitefaced the night before, hungover real bad - like really bad. easily tossed down a 12 rack. Was training for rainier, so loaded up my pack with 3 gallons of water to...

Hikers Ride Avy down Mt. Washington

I am not a avy expert by any means and have had some close calls and probably been a few places I should not have at times.. but you don't expect any avy activity on a day like sat. Thats not to say it won't happen (obviously), but its a favorable risk/benefit profile IMO. If you see an...

4-11-09 Jefferson via Tuckerman's Ravine for my NH48 finish

we heard about this on sat via darlene who was at hojo's while we climbed boot # 2. I think these 2 climbers were in another boot gully b/t boot#2 and hillmans highway - possibly dodges drop. The ravines are never 100% safe, but if there was ever a day when I thought the snow was as stable as...

    stove with good track record

I use the pocket rocket and try this before you write off the primus: 1) use the 4 season fuel - still not 100% great in cold weather, but...have had decent results above 15 to 20 degrees. 2) make sure the cannister is really tight. A few weeks ago, I had a similar problem with small...

4-11-09 Jefferson via Tuckerman's Ravine for my NH48 finish

nice! great way to do this. I am sure you would agree this on a nice april sunny warm day is much more fun the way you did it - than to to slog jefferson on a cold socked in winter day. nice and extra points for hitting the chute. congrats on jefferson:D I had a fine day in the ravine...
