    Hiking the Baldfaces 10/18/2012

I am sure those of you who have hiked the Baldfaces in Evans Notch would agree that it is one of the gems of the White Mountains. We had hiked the loop back in October 2001 and would hike them again as the final hike of our fall vacation. Mark and Natalie had planned the hike with Trish and...

Black Jackson and N. Doublehead are in the bag after a wet a wild weekend

A couple of real fine peaks. Doubleheads are one of our favorites. Now since it's 52 - With-a-View, if you hike it and there is no view, does that count? :D Donna:)

    48 x 3 + 67 = 1 Incredible Day on Mt Carrigain - 9/29/12

Mark, A wonderful story on your journey attaining the NH 48. Even though you ran into a few obstacles, you all managed to reach your goal. And Nat is a real "trooper". We were so glad that we could at least see you all off and partake in the dinner afterwards. Now onward to other marvelous...

Dan, Sorry we missed meeting you at Mark and Natalie's finale on Saturday. It didn't dawn on me until Mark and I were talking that evening at dinner who Dan McGuinness is. Only know you as DM Outdoors. Now we know your actual name. Hope to meet up with you one day. Donna

Black Angel Trail to Carter Dome

Becca, Several years ago when we hiked to Carter Dome via the Carter Moriah Trail, we wondered the same thing about the Black Angel Trail. Now we know. Thanks for taking us there. Donna:)

Vermont 4000 Footers in Two Days 9/8/12-9/9/12

Dan, WOW! Another impressive series of hikes. We've never hiked in Vermont yet; but hope to one day. You'll enjoy the 4000 footers in Maine; especially in Baxter State Park. Look forward to the next chapter of your 67 NE four thousand footers. Donna:)

    Skookumchuckin' to North Lafayette 9/7/12

Nice hike, Phil. The Skookumchuck Trail is a good one to take to avoid the crowds. That was a lot of steps too. It is beginning to look a bit fallish. Donna:)

    Hancocks 8-29-12

Great report and photos, Kevin. A few more hikes and you'll be back in top form. Looks like Emma did very well. Totally agree on what you said about Mark and Nat. We've only hiked with twice but we feel as if we've known them forever. When are we going to get together for a hike? Donna:)

Dancing On the Edges of Knives - Mt Katahdin - 8/14/12

Me neither. Did make it thru the entire video. More power to those guys! Donna

Setting Things Straight: An Easy Backpack 8/24-25/12

Kevin, Stunning sunset and sunrise pictures. Welch/Dickey is a wonderful small mountain. When you getaway from the daily grinds and cross over the NH line or the Pisquataqua Bridge into Maine; it's a entirely different feeling; which I love. Donna:)

    A Bond-ing Backpack - 8/23 & 8/24//12

Mark, I don't think life gets much better than hiking a couple 4000 footers and watching the sunset at the summit:). Also, would agree that for some of us hikers being able to break up the Bonds and Zealand is a great idea. Fabulous hike again! You guys are sooooo close now. You'll be...

One Day Extended Pemi Loop 8-18-12

Dan, that was an amazing hike. I take it this was your longest hike. What did you eat to keep your energy level up? I can only imagine how your legs hurt afterwards:eek: Donna:)

The Owl - Small Mountain - BIG Rewards, Baxter State Park, 8/15/2012

John I was thinking the same thing that I had never seen a report on The Owl before. Earl, thanks for taking us back to our first hike in Baxter State Park. It is one of the great "smaller" mountains of the park. On our first attempt we did not make it since we were novice hikers (back in...

Last on the List, A Vacation Tale

Congratulations on completing the 48. Loved the photo from Bondcliff. The best one I've ever seen (even if photoshopped). Wholeheartedly agree with you and Twin Mom that no matter how much you try it is very difficult to get in shape for the " big ones." Especially since we don't live in NH...

Dancing On the Edges of Knives - Mt Katahdin - 8/14/12

Mark, What an outstanding day you and Nat had to tackle the Knife's Edge. I've looked at the pictures twice and can remember the thrill and excitement we had back in 1995 doing it. If you'll remember, I was also a bit apprehensive after hearing so many stories about the trail. It wasn't until...

    The Mt O-J-I Slip-'n-Slide - 8/13/12

Mark, An excellent hike! We've seen OJI from a distance but haven't hiked it (yet). Don't mind hiking on screes and slabs if they are nice and dry. I always use extreme caution if I come upon a wet slabby area; no boot can help you at that point. Great photo of you at the summit sign...

Short Trip to BSP: Being Honest With Myself on Hamlin Ridge 8-15-12

Kevin, It seemed as if you were really off on a bad foot as I began to read your report. Glad the overall picture improved a bit. Your photos are some of the most stunning and dramatic I've seen of BSP. And your videos bring you right there with you. Hamlin Ridge is a wonderful hike we did...
