Volunteer Pemi Bridge Work Site Clean Up Planning Thread

Thanks Unadogger for organizing this. It was a great day. I don't want to guess how much I carried, but it was more than I have ever had on my back (in a non-work situation) before. We did manage to put a pretty good dent in the debris piles. Maybe one more trip, in the fall? It was great...

Volunteer Pemi Bridge Work Site Clean Up Planning Thread

I was out there a few weeks ago with Sapblatt. The area has several piles of lumber, buckets of hardware, some coiled cable, and one very long stretch of cable lying on the trail. Pemi East Side/Suspension Bridge Site

    A little solitude while catching a few Z's, 06/05/2011

Nice one Petch. Zeacliff Trail is a road less travelled, but it is a nice trail. A group hike is a great way to spend the day, but there is something nice about soloing. Glad you had a great day.

Hancocks via Arrow Slide & Tecumseh, 6/4/2011

I thought that I would give you a third shot at doing me in! It was a great day and a great hike. I had been thinking about hiking the slide for a while now and I happy that I joined in. The slide wasn't quite what I expected, it was much steeper than I thought. The loose ground up high...

Biggest D'oh "That Was Stupid" Moment

Car spotted at Randolph East, then headed over to the Great Gulf Parking area with LarryD and Sapblatt. After hiking through Madison Gulf, summitting Madison (in rain, sleet and wind) we descended Howker Ridge. Upon our return to Randolph East, I found out that I left my car headlights on...

Mt. Agamenticus, ME and Second Hill

Marty and I had a great day, it was nice to hike together again. This is a hidden gem, and one hike that I will definitely do again. No benchmark sightings, but then again, I did manage to stay on my feet all day :o a few pictures from the day

Monroe, More Fun Than A Trip To Disneyland, 4/16/2011

It was great to see Earl, Sue and Kevin again, and a pleasure to meet Caleb and John. All in all, the hike up was fine. Right up until the slide. As far at the Disneyland reference, maybe I should have paid for that ride. My feet slid out from under me and there wasn't much to grab onto. I...

What does VFTT mean to you?

I had been pretty much a solo hiker. I lurked on VFTT for years, taking in information. I finally registered in 2005. I attended a beer night and met some great folks. It was nice to meet people with similar interests. Thanks to Views, friendships evolved. Between group hikes and...
