Mask mandate on Federal property, including WMNF

    1. I have seen near universal compliance since the NH state mandate. I can count the number of unmasked customers I've seen in stores/post office/etc. since November on one hand, as compared to the many hundreds "complying." 2. Anecdotally I know people who have been "following the rules,"...

Trail Runners Rescued from Mt Lafayette

Once again, this is why snowshoes are so important. Whether they be trail runners or just Microspiking hikers, if they lose the trail or are forced off the trail with winter snowpack, they're in deep trouble. Snowshoes allow you to float over the snowpack and get out.

Mask mandate on Federal property, including WMNF

We have been told that mask mandates are "following the science" and that they will stop the spread. Any pirate not living under a rock can see that the spread was not stopped. If a pirate were assessing the results, they would make the mask mandates walk the plank. Yarrr!

Mask mandate on Federal property, including WMNF

While the New England data doesn't show that mask mandates are working, it has been lacking a control group since the New Hampshire mask mandate. On the other hand, we do have an active experiment in the United States with the Dakotas. Both saw huge spikes, and both saw huge drops, regardless...

Mask mandate on Federal property, including WMNF

Masks are mandated at schools. If schools are the predominant cause of the massive surge in COVID cases as you suggest, then how does that prove masks are stopping the spread?

Mask mandate on Federal property, including WMNF

November 20: January 21 (note the change in the Y axis): The mask mandates failed to stop the spread.

A rescue and near rescue on Mt Washington

"They wallowed off trail in the krumholz (wind shaped, stunted fir trees) in chest-deep snow and brush" This is why one should bring snowshoes when venturing above treeline this time of year.

Proposed $5 entrance fee for Mt Washington Summit Building

Cannon is subsidized by the state general capital fund and the Sunapee ski lease revenue.

    Kearsage North Trailhead Parking Tickets

It's not necessarily overflow parking that drums up the local angst. Often times, there are a few bad eggs who get in a confrontation with adjacent landowners that make the situation boil over. That's happened in the Belknaps in recent years. Somewhat unrelated, that's also why Mad River Glen...

Alpine Skiing Under Travel Restrictions - How?

It's been a terrible holiday week for skiing, but let's not start any rumors of non-compliance so that the mob tries to shut down our ski areas. Assuming they had the ghost lanes set up (providing side-to-side distance), then "social distance" was maintained, as tails and tips of skis naturally...

Alpine Skiing Under Travel Restrictions - How?

Catamount illustrates case in point how ridiculous the interstate quarantine rules (note, these are NOT laws) are. Basically a skier is in violation of rules every time they ride the main lift (if I'm not mistaken, the base terminal is located in Massachusetts, but the towers and top terminal...

    52 with no View

First Pierce has no views, now Peak Above the Nubble? Am I missing a joke, or are you just trolling?

    52 with no View

In looking at past WMGs, that view has been maintained for a long time. Perhaps the individual or group that maintains the bench on the subpeak knows about it? In the Belknaps? Mt. Klem has one of the best views in the range a few hundred feet from the highpoint.

Proposed $5 entrance fee for Mt Washington Summit Building

I understand not posting about state elections, which I did not, but if discussing state park funding is "politics," it will be extremely difficult to discuss this topic.

Proposed $5 entrance fee for Mt Washington Summit Building

The state provides millions in general fund dollars to the park system. Unfortunately, the department has a history of propping up certain properties with massive subsidies (such as Cannon Mountain ski area, which is frequently in the red), while leaving other properties with next to no funding.

    NH Mask Mandate in Effect

We're not protecting the vulnerable by creating a false sense of security that they're somehow safe in a public setting if everyone is wearing a piece of cloth on their face. 1. Historic Data. Historically, face masks have not been proven to stop viral transmission (according to a CDC study...

    NH Mask Mandate in Effect

Rhode Island has had a mask mandate since May 8. Why isn't it working?

    NH Mask Mandate in Effect

The "science" says they don't need to wear masks while consuming those beverages as long as they are seated and have purchased food.

In other words, they were lying to us then, but we can trust what they say now?

    NH Mask Mandate in Effect

The "experts" told us in March that 2.2 million Americans would be dead by August 2020, and that there would be virtually no more deaths come October 2020. The "experts" also told us in March not to wear a mask. Let us not forget Dr. Fauci on 60 Minutes on March 8, 2020: "There's no reason...
