McKenzie Mountain - what's the "true" elevation?

The 3822 ft elevation for McKenzie Mountain is (like many OSM elevations) from the GNIS (Geographic Names Information System), in this case dated 23 Jan 1980, so take it with multiple grains of salt. Just found How accurate is the elevation data in the Geographic Names Information System...

    Are We a Dying Breed?

I was very happy with two pairs of mid-weight Limmers (I know, not the real thing :D) until my early seventies, when I felt that my ageing body could not justify their weight. I must say that the lighter boots I used were fine for my more limted hikes.

Getting more and more interesting: Since I almost never use Firefox I was not logged in; with Chrome I am logged in (though I rarely post I still follow the forum regularly). When I logged in on Firefox the graphic header and the Donate button disappeared, logging out made them reappear. And...

Interesting ... when I go to www.vftt.org/forums on Chrome I get neither the graphics nor the donate button. I still have Firefox on my computer and it gave me what your screenshot shows. Weird! Anyway, many thanks from an old timer for your stewardship of this wonderful site.

    Looks like spring up north

I have friends who are going to NH tomorrow to XC ski over the MLK weekend. They know the forecast and have low expectations. Staying west of the Kanc, they wonder which of Waterville Valley or Bretton Woods would be the best bet on Sun/Mon.

    Blueberry Mountain Trail from east?

Many thanks for the update. Looking forward to that hike; for some reason I have never yet hiked Blueberry Mountain, though I have often hiked neighboring Black Mountain.

    Blueberry Mountain Trail from east?

Will soon be hiking the Town Line Trail with a friend who is finishing redlining the AT in NH. Hardly a full day's hiking even for an old man :) So was thinking of doing the Blueberry Mountain Trail from Long Pond Road afterwards. I remember that there was logging around the Blueberry...

    "New" bench on Sosman Trail

It's three years since I have done any real hiking ... today I did the Mt. Tecumseh Trail -> Sossman Trail -> service road loop. I noticed a bench replacing the long decayed original bench on the east facing Sossman Trail outlook: The wood did not look very weathered to me, so I suspect it...

Reminder Highland Games in Lincoln this weekend

On the return trip you can avoid almost all of downtown Lincoln by taking a right at The Common Man onto Pollard Road, follow Pollard Road almost to the end, then left on East Spur Road and right on Connector Road.

Best Short Quick Easy Hikes In NH

Pondicherry seems to me to be the ideal solution ... wish I had thought of it. Totally flat, excellent footing, pond plus great views of the Northern Presis. Hiked it a few years ago at Steve Smith's suggestion in the fall for the wonderful larches.
