    Side Path For South Peak

My GPS track says 0.2 miles, in agreement with others. I would describe the trail as easy to miss if you are not looking for it, but impossible to miss it you are.

    New High-Tech GPS Device!!!

Thanks for sharing! I would want one myself, if I did not already own quite a few of these devices :)

    Status of Some WMNF Trailheads

Hubbard Brook Road is closed. Only trailheads off it are Mt. Kineo and Hubbard Brook trails, so few will be inconvenienced ;)

    Status of Some WMNF Trailheads

AS of today Tripoli Road is open, though Russell Pond Road is gated at its junction with Tripoli Road.

    Status of Some WMNF Trailheads

Of course it is. We are early October and there has been a total of 0.000 mm of snow so far.

Plowing Of Hiking Lots And Winter Bushwhacks

I am pretty sure that Bryan is, as he states, referring to the 4,000 Footer book which, unlike the WMG, has a section on winter routes for each peak.

Tecumseh on a beautiful fall day

I started late, and in the rush to get out I forgot my camera on a gorgeous day   Bad start, but apart from that everything was wonderful. I started, as I usually do, at the Depot Camp trailhead and used the Pipeline XC ski trail to reach the ski area, adding half a mile each way...

    Terrifying Madison Gulf

I did it with Dave Metsky the same year as you did, as a slightly less young youngster of 64, and found some of the scrambles challenging. We descended by going over the summit and down the Osgood. No desire at all to do it again it this stage of my life ;)

    Camera Bags

Probably, thread is in the Exposures camera group. A very low volume group which, IMHO, fulfills no real function and should be merged back into General Backcountry.

... and, if it is a DSLR, how many lenses do you carry on a typical hike?

    Large Map Of White Moutains

That page was written a loooong time ago and not updated ... I would take anything in it with several grains of salt.

Croydon Mountain: how do you bag this one?

I have not been involved with the County Highpointers for many, many years. But when I was involved they arranged an annual trip to Croydon.

Any thoughts on my next 4000 ?

There is an "interesting" chimney between the two peaks, not sure how the dog would handle it.

    China's Mount Tai

As usual, Wikipedia has the answer (at least to the first part of the question).

Mount Franklin by Edmands and Crawford Paths

Date of Hike: 7/12/2013 Trail Conditions: Trail wet (obviously :)), otherwise no problems Comments: An unusual and very rewarding hike. I wanted to do 3,000 feet of elevation gain, with the option of adding another 300 feet if I felt fit enough (that would have brought the total to 1,000...

Moosilauke side peaks, Blue & Jim

Been years since I did them, but unless Mt. Jim has moved it is a few feet off the height of land on the Asquam Ridge Trail, with (at the time I did it) a pretty clear herd path. Mount Blue was a different story, a real bushwhack with real blood (OK, just enough to bring out the Band Aids :)).
