    GPS, Maps, and cameras ILLEGAL

Again, there's no conspiracy. You can either accept the facts or ignore them. And you seem to be intentionally ignoring them (possibly because you have lots of "logger friends", as you claim). The land was supposed to be cleaned up. It has not been cleaned up. We have photo evidence and the...

    GPS, Maps, and cameras ILLEGAL

I think you missed the entire thread (you might want to go back and re-read the entire thing). The land is supposed to be for public use. The gravel pit was supposed to be cleaned up 10 years ago. It's not about the view of the gravel pit. It's about hiding (or exposing) what's going on there.

What have you done in the mountains that could have resulted in a rescue, but didn't?

    1) Last March on a very warm day returning from Jefferson I made a poor decision to cut off the ascent up to Clay by going through the "snowfield" (see: spruce trap field) to Jewell and postholed the entire way in my 32" Tubbs. I ran out of water about halfway and started melting snow. Luckily...

How small is a GPS these days?

They're about to get 30 times smaller. http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/Rockwell-Collins-Reports-Breakthrough-in-Micro-GPS--186974771.html I read a different article last week but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Oh well. I can only imagine what the defense department has available with...

Hale via Fire Warden's Trail, 1/12/2013

Using the "bypass" does skip the first 2 of the 3 crossings. The abandoned Firewarden trail is about halfway between the first and second crossing.

How small is a GPS these days?

They have GPS units the size of the head of a pin now. Not sure if those are publicly available yet. http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/category/gps+tracking.do This security site has GPS tracking units available. Here's an article from a year ago re: very small gps units...

Beginning winter hiking - which trails to start out on?

If it takes you 2 days to summit Pierce I'd assume you're prepared for that. :) Willow wands do add extra weight but they may be helpful in certain situations, so I've heard. How much do the trekking poles weigh anyway?

Emergency Shelter Room at Lake of the Clouds Hut

This seems a little odd considering that hut was created as an emergency shelter in the first place, if I'm not mistaken.
