    Working on the 770?

I will blame Sonny Martineau for my budding interest in NE3K. When he mentioned that he and some others had placed jars with registers on all these obscure summits scattered about NE I was hooked. I think it coincided with my recent divorce and the idea of finding obscure highpoints to 'get...

    Grafton Loop - any news?

I maintain a small section of the GNLT near the Lane Campsite. According to Milt Wright, Baldpate section Overseer, what you know is the latest. There is no update. Politics seems to be at the root of the delay - heck has anyone noticed the festering piles of privies-in-waiting rotting on the...

What'd you do in the snow on the last winter weekend ?

A little music, a little sledding It was a mixture of efforts. Friday night we (Loose Gravel) played a gig at the Old Goat in Richmond ME, to a small but spirited crowd as the storm outside raged. Saturday was supposed to be a Cabot, Bulge, Horn thang but we bailed after yet another weekend...

    Flume...Lafayette...Twin...Bonds Cliff

The Dirty Dozen in a day? gads! tough enough to do in dry weather, let alone in the unpredictable snow-pack of a late-March mid-April day. I assume you are going to go for all the summits as well? as in not skipping by West Bond or Galehead? I call it the so-called Dirty Dozen on acocunt of...

    Sledding the D-Cat...

Since I was a little ambivalent on my weekend plans, unsure of what peak, if any, that I would end this winter hiking season on, and yet really wanting to get out, I was pretty much a sucker for the opportunity of sucking down a microbrew on the summit of any peak in NH or ME and so...in honor...

    Info on Cup Snow?

There is an alternate way to Cupsuptic Snow and though I have not actually traveled it, (my friends did) the general directions would be to go in Morton cut off and take a left. In about a 1/2 mile or less you cross the Cupsuptic River there is a right about a mile after that that takes you...

    Another big New England Storm?

Ditto! We (Hawk, Hans AndyW and I) are planning to go to Cabot/Bulge and Horn Saturday so if there are any folks that want to join the party we'll be hoping that the Hatchery is plowed out and available. Look for a Bright Blue FJ Cruiser high-centered on the Hatchery Rd.

    I am a 'DAKS virgin

ya, you know my usual hiking partners are all DAK-less as well  really is strange. They, like you are feeling like there is so much in New England that has yet to be explored - so true! and we all recognize NY as definitely peer-to-peer hiking, the northeast kinda rocks IMHO! but yet not...
