Colvin and Blake- From Heaven to Hell

The Crack was definitely fun to climb up, it was a little tricky coming down that sucker though. Can't imagine doing that in the rain ! Thanks for the comments, hope you guys enjoy the hike coming up! Definitely check out Indian Head and Fish Hawk Cliffs, worth the short detour!

Colvin and Blake- From Heaven to Hell

My Aborted Deathmarch Krawl of a month ago which included Dial and Nippletop but aborted Colvin and Blake, made me go back to summit the mighty peaks of Colvin and Blake this fine day. I had this hike on my mind for a few weeks but I was unable to go out to New York as I was suffering from the...

125 miles hiking, 17 nights camping, 10 bears, 5 stitches, and 1 street urchin

Those pics are gorgeous. I like the funyun pic the best. I would go with the death stare or flex a strong pimpin hand if someone attempted to snatch my Funyuns.

anyone feel they have an accurate forecast for tomorrow ?

My forecast is calling for darkness in the morning, followed by bacon and eggs, possibly a bike ride, partly cloud skies with a chance of rain. 70% chance of labatt blue and Notre Dame vs Michigan kicking up right around 3:30. 90% chance of darkness right around sunset. 96% chance of regret once...

Hip labral tear/Arthroscopic surgery/Can anyone relate?

Serious injuries tend to change the perception of your own existence, make you appreciate what you took for granted before. While the current reality sucks(i've been there), once you get back out there you will appreciate everything so much more. The morning sun will appear to be a new color of...

Acadian Traverse - 11 peaks via the Precipice 9/6/09

Nice hike! Phil, glad you got to do your trip that you have been planning for years. I love all of those trails, especially the Precipice, Dorr Mountain and Sargeant. Those lobsters looked pretty tasty too. I picked up some Lake Champlain lobsters for dinner tonight myself. (I assume Shaw's got...

Look before you "take care of business"

i wonder if the responding cops on scene did rock, paper, scissors to decide who had to cuff him and spray him off? Ewwww. Maybe this is the guy that filmed that whole "two girls and a cup" youtube video i have heard about... I am really not sure how to punish a guy like this. Wash his mouth...

    Pemi Loop 8.22.09

Nice job Rebecca. I am awed by your single day hiking prowess, and have no desire to try to keep up with you. I am bringing your fellow Illini grad out to the Sox game on Friday, so there will be at least two alums in the Boston area! Go Sox!

    ADK hike (Aborted Deathmarch Krawl)

If the people want art, then art they will receive! I am planning to do some out of this world finger painting of my next hike. Possibly moving on to sand and glue art after that. I am not classicly trained, but I would like to thank my kindergarten teacher for bringing out my creative art skills.

Thanks Phil, I cant wait to go back with my camera to those cliffs. I think I may put my art career on hold though and try to remember my camera from now on.

    ADK hike (Aborted Deathmarch Krawl)

After doing a nice 18 mile hike for the HaBaSa peaks last weekend, and perhaps feeling a bit inspired by reading all the exploits about the people doing the long hikes at breakneck speeds, I decided that I wanted to do a nice challenging hike in the Daks. So I set my alarm for just prior to 5...

The Non Trap Dike hike up Colden

After finishing up my hike of HaBaSa on friday night around 8'ish, I drove up to my friend's house out on the hillside of Keene Valley. Luckily for me there were cold beers waiting for me, with a shower, and a dinner to follow. I would have liked to meet some people friday night at the...

Nice report Rebecca! I had a blast doing this hike, and felt honored that Paradox called me by my middle name, Michael, even though i had not told him this. No worries. My day started around 6 a.m. in Burlington when i awoke, drove a few hours to the trailhead, and got powered up with a couple...

    Adirondack bbq

Due to too many beers while playing softball, i read this thread the other week and thought this event was last weekend. Hence my surprise while I read this today to find out that it is coming up... I was planning on taking Friday off from work and hike in the Dak's anyway, so I might join up...
