Follow Up Story on Kate Matrosova

From Bloomberg Business: http://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2015-trader-in-the-wild/ I believe the author is the same Chip Brown who wrote "Good Morning Midnight: Life and Death in the Wild", the story of Guy Waterman.

Lady Di Finishes the Grid on Mt. Garfield 4-11-15

Diane "Lady Di" Schor finished her grid today on the cold and windy summit of Mt. Garfield. Twenty plus friends (and several dogs) joined her in celebrating her tremendous achievement. For someone who said she would never do the grid, never say never. With the support of her husband, Bill...

ever see wild pigs in NH ?

Here's a blurry shot of a Russian Boar from deep inside Corbin Park. Blurry because it was taken from the back of a pickup truck as we were being delivered to the Croydon trailhead. This was one of the smaller ones. Occasionally they do escape from Corbin. I wouldn't want to see one on the...

Bill Cronin completed his grid (48x12) today on the bone-chilling summit of Mt. Hale accompanied by a small contingent of friends. It was a chilly 15 degrees below zero with a five mph wind on the summit. Summit celebrations were quite hasty as we said some quick congratulations and quickly...

Sue Johnston redlines the White Mtn Guide

A big congratulations, Sue. Redlining is definitely lots of fun. Sometimes finding the trailheads for some of these trails can be an adventure in itself. I also had to redo some very long hikes to get a very short spur that I had skipped many years ago. What a great sentiment to honor...

    WMNF Forest Road Status

Did a quick hike up Ike today and on the way back noticed Zealand Rd is gated, Haystack Rd is gated, Gale River Rd at Trudeau Rd is gated. The Garfield end of Gale River Rd was still open but maybe because some one was still parked in there?

    Hancock Trail Relocations

The new relo has been flagged but no work was done because an endangered sedge was discovered so they have put off any trail work for now. Maybe a relo of the relo in 2015?

New Hampshire 200 Highest and New Hampshire 300 Highest Lists

In the interest of transparency… The NH300 lists aren’t considered super secret, however they aren’t passed out indiscriminately either, but passed out to those considered to be good stewards of the bushwhacking community. Usually one of the caveats to receiving a list is that they were not to...

    Moosilauke Summit Sign Gone

Took me a while to find this in my collection but vandalism goes back a long way on the Moose. Some things will never change. A reward poster printed on some sort of cloth (linen?) dating back to the time of the old Tip Top House. An old postcard of the old Tip Top House (with a few changes)...
