    A Jaunt up Lincoln & Lafayette 12-12-11

An incredible day on the ridge. Calm winds, perfect temps, fantastic visibility all led to a wonderful day. Only saw a handful of souls all day including an exuberant group of five who were whooping and hollering on summiting Lafayette. Good job guys! Fangs of ice. Mt. Liberty and a...

America's Next Top Gray Jay - Mt. Tom 12-10-11

Hiked up Mt. Tom yesterday, had a dusting of fresh snow over some older snow, a little chilly on top with a bit of a breeze but a nice day nonetheless. A Gray Jay came to visit and gave me an opportunity to take some pictures.

Wachipauka Pond - Say That Fast Three Times

We wanted to do a non-adventurous walk in the woods and decided upon a short hike to Wachipauka Pond which the AT runs along. We had visited the pond years ago including a hike over Mt. Mist and Webster Slide Mountain but today was just a visit to the pond. Here we go. We think these are...

Day 2 of Slabs and Ledges - Fisher-Hogback-Green-Foss-Dickey Mountains 11-22-11

It was pretty much a whack from Hogback to Green. Then there's a "magical" path from Green to Dickey. :D

Day 2 of Slabs and Ledges - Fisher-Hogback-Green-Foss-Dickey Mountains 11-22-11

Hey Barb, I went in from the Millbrook Rd. side and followed the old trail to Fisher, did the loop and then walked the Brown Ash Swamp bike path back to Millbrook Rd. A fun day. John

Day 2 of Slabs and Ledges - Fisher-Hogback-Green-Foss-Dickey Mountains 11-22-11

I don't think there is an "easy" route between Hogback and Green. For me, it varied from open to thick to very thick along the way. The woods did open up on the Green summit approach though so that was nice.
