    Garfield, Sunday 3/6/16

Two beautiful days in a row! Bob B planned it out nicely, and so Garfield was the final peak of his winter 48. We could not have asked for a better day to help him celebrate on the summit. We used spikes the whole way. Congrats to Bob and thanks to all for a fun day. There are a few...

    Mt Washington, Saturday 3/5

Thank you! I would agree, ice was a non-issue this past weekend. We were much relieved, after a somewhat treacherous trip over the Carters the weekend before. A bit of new snow has made all the difference. We could have safely switched back to spikes after reaching the upper junction with...

    Mt Washington, Saturday 3/5

A spectacular day to be on the Rockpile. Up and down via the Lion Head winter route. We wore spikes as far as the first aid cache, crampons from there to the summit and back, then back to spikes. More images on Zenfolio. Gallery, slide show Jonathan

    S, Middle, N. Carter, 2/27

A beautiful day to be out. Trails were icy and treacherous due to lack of snow. Most of our group used spikes, but one wore crampons most of the way. Be careful out there! Edit: Thank you to Fran and Chris, who found my lost Fitbit and left it at our car. Much appreciated!

    Mt Adams, Saturday 2/20

Better late than never... a few shots from our hike of Adams last Saturday. We started on Air Line, but a couple inches of fresh snow on top of ice made for slick going, even with spikes. So we cut over to Valley Way, which had had more traffic, and we had much better luck there. We took the...

Completed the Wildcats yesterday. 8 more peaks to bag. :-)

Congrats on your hike. Did I give you and your daughter a lift back to Pinkham? I picked up two Wildcat hikers near the base of the auto road. =)

Lafayette and Lincoln, Sunday 2/7/16, up Old Bridle Path, down Falling Waters

A few shots from Lafayette and Lincoln yesterday 2/7. Still kind of amazed that we were able to summit and complete the loop, given a very ominous Higher Summits Forecast. Views were very limited, but improved somewhat as we headed south on the ridge. We wore Microspikes and Hillshounds. No...

Mt Madison Saturday 1/30. Up Valley Way, down Air Line

A Particularly nice day in the whites Sunday 1/26 - Starr King

A nice write up. We hiked Starr King and Waumbek on 1/16, it snowed most of the way. We ran into three grey jays on Starr King. There is some good info about them on Wikipedia for those interested in learning more about these intelligent and friendly birds. We also saw a pair of...
