    O Canada!_ (02-Oct-2009)

Nice Pictures! Regarding Mount Sutton, although it is primarily a ski area, there is a nice network of hiking trails with some very nice views. Round top is the name of the summit there and it looks over the Quebec/Vermont border towards Jay Peak. Well worth a visit. I was out in the...

There is an excellent example of "swamping" at the recently created Cathedral stumps campground in Eustis, Maine. Sorry no pictures. ;)

Fall Gathering Sept 18th to 20th - Eustis ME

Yeah! Who needs 400 pallets when you can have 400 pine trees.. ;) On top of that, one would think Swamp should win the leather apron having driven 7 hours from RI. But no! that honor went to a lady from Wyoming.

Fall Gathering Sept 18th to 20th - Eustis ME

I was going to solo Cop snow on the Sunday but wasted too much time driving down the wrong dirt road and ended up doing a short but pleasant bushwhack near the CoP. That's as close as any of us got to doing it.

Prino's wife, Sari (pronounced Shari, rhymes with marry): Laurie: I really enjoyed reading about your climbing in Baxter State Park and absolutely loved your close-up photos of the wildflowers and plants. In the last year I have had two hip replacements and hope that soon I will be climbing...

    Flagstaff Lake Hut

Wow! Those pictures are amazing! It looks like a place definitely worth visiting. I would be interested in the hut to hut ski touring once it is established. Great to meet you again at the gathering.

Fantastic! Congratulations Laurie on completing the 115 and you too Tom for doing the "double". I was over on the Bigelow range on Saturday and although quite a strong wind conditions, they were nowhere as bad as up your way. We could just see Katahdin in the far distance. Those pictures are...

Fall Gathering Sept 18th to 20th - Eustis ME

It was a Great weekend! Thanks for organizing this Dennis. I hiked the Bigelows with Jean on Saturday and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Unfortunately I took the wrong dirt road to get to Snow and ended up just doing a short bushwhack at Chain of Lakes.... the ridge I was on...

    Gathering 12 - Eustis 9/18-20 hikes etc.

So is anybody else heading up to Eustis this weekend? It's a long drive for me (alone) to find no one to hike and drink with.

    Leaps of faith, name them!

My most memorable "leap of faith" happened running down the Dudley trail off Katahdin. I'm not sure exactly where it was, but after seeing many pictures of "The finger" which is somewhere down there, wonder if that was it. It happened so quickly that when I looked back to see what I had jumped...
