Not sure if you're main goal was to do a complete Pemi-loop and tag owls head as well or if it was to just tag all the 4k's in the pemi area. Sounds like the 4x48 finish was. Given that, I'd suggest for efficiency Lincoln Slide is the way to go. You have to back track a little after...
Yeah, you read that report and it's no wonder his mother worried about him like she did :p
I'd be up for something like that too at some point. I like interesting off the beaten track kinds of things. Could be "fun".....at least Neil's kind of fun....
We definately did not go over E. Hancock. I have attached a little map showing roughly what I think we did. We were originally headed in that direction, but when we got to the slide we dropped down before completely traversing over it. That is why we had to re-ascend back up to the ridge. I...
.....it was the best of time, it was the worst of times.....you're signature was well chosen. Thanks for the write up Neil. You always keep it interesting.
Hey Laura, we were talking about Baxter and Abol today. We were saying no one had seen you out for a while. Looks like you're still here. Good to see it.
Oh yeah PS - nice job Arm. You definately drew the short weather straw.... :)
But we don't ask you to carry nearly as many rocks Hamtero, you'd think hiking with us would be easier :p
Super fun day and a great group to do this with. Glad I was able to go and glad the weather cooperated. Next time less headlamps and more gloves, the kind with the really good palm...
Surprised you took a dodge for this, probably your first mistake. As a VT'er I would have gone for the subaru/boxer :p
Nice report on the hike, the predicament, and your solution to the problem.
Sounds like you're definately on for this year. This is on my list but won't be able to go in 2012. I took last x-mas off for Ecuador and am leaving for Thankgiving already, so I can't be gone in December again this year. If this gets put off to a future year let me know. I've actually been...
Was good to be able to get out with quality group of friends and no trip to BSP is even not fun. Was great to be able to accomplish what we did given the weather and catastrophic melt down going on during our window of opportunity. I think I have a new PB on downing that turkey sandwich after...
We came down just after closing a couple of weeks ago and there was no problem, but there was nobody out there either. We reached they deck around 5pm, then headed down. Did a little in the dark, but it was no problem.
There was patrol at the bottom which we went by but no one questioned us...

Thanks for posting Blaze. I'll be heading that way in a few weeks. Nice to see report on what's gone on and see some pics. This will help influence some of my gear choices and I'm definately buying the new snowshoes now.
My old faithful's were feeling a bit heavy this weekend. Seeing how...
Nice Pictures Kevin. We were looking at the Pressie ourselves and wondering if it was nice or cold and windy. I know for sure on Sunday it was nice on Isolation, but my friends in the Ravine were reporting very cold and windy.
I'm with Jay. I've never had a 100% microspike day. Even if I do wear them on the way. That aside I've also never had the microspike spin on my boot. The toe wire keeps it locked in place. I've also never had one get snagged and come off. I'm thinking perhaps you may be wearing microspikes...
Ditto on the EMS Endo. I bought the men's Endo Pant. Then I bought the women's EndoTherm. Believe it or not, the Therm version is only available in women's right now. I like them both, but I searched high and low for the men's initially.
I find that if you want pockets and functional gear...
I'll see if I have any pictures at home from a couple of years back. Basically if I'm remembering correctly there is one section which if wet or icy without proper footwear could be quite worry some. You'd most likely bounce a couple times before coming to a beat up rest. That particular part...
