    Best route for Breadloaf/Wilson

If you want scenic, unless trees are your idea of scenic, those really aren't the mountains for you. Go one gap down (Brandon Gap) and check out the cliffs on Mt Horrid if you want scenic.

    Sounds rather audacious, no?

why do they need bugspray in January?

    AT in Baxter

I always thought that road walk on the AT was kinda lame. Of all the places you'd expect a roadwalk on the AT, wouldn't Forever Wild be the least likely?

parking in Mad Tom Notch, Peru, VT

We were there two years ago. I think 8 - 10 might be a little generous, but there was parking for several cars right where the LT crosses. The road was in rough shape then, but it's probably fine when it's been graded. If the the road is too impassable for you, there's a snowmobile parking...

    South/Middle Carter Hiking Direction

Agreed. The south leg is a little shorter but it is suckingly boring. The north leg is way better, and not just the Imp Face viewpoint. The whole trail is better. The extra less than half a mile road walk (or bike I guess) is worth it. In fact the last time I was there in the summer, we...

For spaced-out hikers. Hiking map of Mars.

You neglected to take into account the lower air resistance. Although that is likely somewhat offset by the much thicker 'fleece' you'd have to wear giving you less range of motion.

    Waterbury Trail (6/26)

Trail in great shape. A couple of muddy spots but it had rained in the morning so not sure about those. Of course it was starting to rain when I left too so. I heard from people at the summit that the trail to White Rocks was rather grown-in, but I didn't venture there myself so I don't know...

Driving route - Albany to Mt Moosilauke?

I think this would be the best way, although staying on 11 thru Springfield to get to 91 might be a little quicker as it's shorter. The bypass around Bennington is great, I wish it had been there when I was in college. The Route 9 option isn't bad either, the only hangups are in Bennington, a...

    Sugarloaf Trail (5/23)

The ones in Twin Mountain. A little muddy near the river. A fairly fresh looking rockslide near the North summit. Other than that, no issues but swarms of black flies.

    Georgiana Falls (5/22)

One blowdown of note. But a guided tour was there including elderly folks wearing sandals so the trail is in pretty good shape obviously.

    Coppermine Trail (5/22)

Couple of muddy spots and a couple of blowdowns that have wellworn paths around them. Other than that no problems. Water was running a little high and so it is a little adventurous to get to the upper pool on Bridal Veil Falls.

    Glastenbury vt

I also did the Long Trail and West Ridge Loop. It took us the whole day, but we weren't trying to go fast and we also whacked to two of the sub-peaks. Be prepared for a long walk thru the green tunnel. It's a nice walk with lots of ferns, but it does get a little tedious after a while...

    Mt Stinson Trail (4/24)

Trail is mostly dry with numerous muddy spots. Brook crossings are no problem. Took the hiking trail up at the loop junction and descended on the snowmobile trail back to that junction. Snowmobile trail has a couple sections that are soggy messes. Wouldn't recommend it right now.
