    Wildcat Traverse (2/20)

Barebootable to Carter Notch, but a lot of icy spots so be careful. Wore snowshoes the rest of the way, but may not have needed them everywhere.

HELP! I need fit models for climbing gear!

maybe you could make a reality show out of this.

winter excercise: hacking up nasty stuff after?

yes, this happens to me although the severity varies. Generally the colder it is and the longer I'm out in it the worse it gets. In my case it is due to asthma. In your case, I'm pretty sure it's because you get to hike on Wednesdays.

    Best Photo Album Websites

Pretty much what you said. It was the easiest to use, but the company is not trustworthy. The "customer service" (that's what they call it, not me) was about the worst I've ever seen in any industry. They made the changes mentioned above, despite negative feedback from users. As a result...

    12,000 Ossippee acres closed

True, but for even less money and ink, TB could have saved a lot of anguish too.

Kinsmans via Mt Kinsman Tr. 12-26

Pretty much a hard surface to North Kinsmans - we wore light traction. Between summits it's looser - light traction or snow shoes

    AMC Executive Director pay

Yes and no, I'd say. The post may have been mostly about non-response. But if there wasn't some kind of ulterior motive, then wouldn't the title also be something like "AMC Non-response to information request" or something along those lines. Seems like an axe is being ground to me.

    12,000 Ossippee acres closed

Hold on a second. Is that really the Associate Attorney General's name?

    AMC Executive Director pay

Who cares how much he makes? I'm not a member (nor particularly fond of the AMC) and have no idea even what an executive director does. But I assume that he does whatever an executive director does and does it well. And that's what it costs to get an executive director. Now if you could...

    MSR Lightning snowshoe recommendations

I weight about 220 without the pack. I have been using the Lightning 25s without any problems for the past couple winters. I would think that being 45 lbs lighter you wouldn't have any trouble either.

    NEng 3k Finishers

Congrats to Marc (and all those that went before). I'm glad we got down and safely to the Woodstock Station before all that deadly upslope started.

    Morale Booster?

What boosts my morale the most is surviving the hike, thus being secure in the knowledge that I have again avoided having a 17 page thread on VFTT created in my (dis)honor.

How much does the cog ride up Nobscot Hill cost?

    North America's Deadliest Animal

From the picture it's clear that Luna is not a white rabbit. Those are the deadly ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCI18qAoKq4 One other clarification I'd like. What is considered North America for the purpose of this poll?

Interesting Situation at Baxter: Car Boot

I just thought the problem was rampant illiteracy. Last week almost every time I drove by Stump Pond there were cars parked along the road. This despite the sign that clearly says that if the lot is full to come back later.

    Study: Northeast winters warming fast

Mark Twain summed this whole discussion up best when he said, "In the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Lower Mississippi has shortened itself two hundred and forty-two miles. Therefore ... in the Old Oolitic Silurian Period the Lower Mississippi River was upward of one million...

What's up with the dam on Lonesome Lake?

I noticed last weekend that the dam on Lonesome Lake is getting worked on. As you come up the trail and hit the lake there are signs directing you around the long way to get to the hut. Not that it's that much further going around the lake (I wasn't going to the hut so it didn't matter to me...

Full Moon Finish for A 'summer' 48

I already congratulated you on the summit of Washington, but since you hadn't actually finished yet, I guess that doesn't count. So congratulations again. Nice seeing you guys again.
