Franconia Ridge, BridlePath to Osseo 11/7

Nice undercast, and great photos! I was across the way on North Kinsman Sunday, unfortunately inside the 'cast... great day to be out, though! :)

Hiking Some Loops in the Shelburne, NH Area (02-Nov-2010)

John, thanks for this report - it is great to hear these trails are back in business! I certainly had quite a different experience attempting to climb Mt Ingalls via the logging-obliterated Scudder trail a year or so ago. Between slash piles, jagged sapling spikes, mazes of ribbons and No...

A Short Hike to Pine Mountain in Gorham (19-Oct-2010)

John, those are some superb photos, especially the first one. A friend and I were looking at that same scene from the cliffs of Owl's Head the very same day. However, I much prefer the cow and grass foreground of your shot to anything I was able to capture! Definitely one of the best times of...

    2010 Fall Foliage thread

I love that perspective looking straight down the falls! I've never tried that angle for a waterfall shot - that would be great for a few narrow flume falls around here. Excellent job with the exposure and focus on this one - I'd be hard pressed to get the foreground and background nice and...

Thank you for the green square! Maybe someday I will be fortunate and take a moose photo... the little beasties are rumored to be in the woods somewhere, I hear, though all I have seen is the moose poo. :)))

    Dog-i-lauke 10/9/10

Thanks, Kevin, for posting this report! I wondered how the morning went with the dog hike. When fortune struck Saturday and I found myself free after 10AM, Kirby and I raced over to the Moose to see if we could catch up. We arrived at the Lodge side; after sampling the wind through the ravine...

Black Mtn: Stretching half day hike to a full day

That's a beautiful shot! Black Mountain has some great autumn colors! I see the Moose looks rime-free. Quite a difference from Saturday!

    2010 Fall Foliage thread

Yeah, when I hiked through Zealand on the 3rd, I was surprised at the bare birch trees in that area. Seems like foliage hit north of the notches a week or so early this year. The two days of wind and rain didn't help much, either. The southern Pemi was looking a bit past this weekend as well.

Black Angel Death March - 2009.09.27

Wow - great report! I've thought about that loop a few times, but never got around to trying it. The Moriah/Shelburne-Moriah loop from the campground is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing! :)

Alex Takes the Guyot Challenge (and revisits Zealand). October 3, 2010

Great report! Such a nice day, too. Quite a difference in foliage levels between Zealand Notch and the southern Pemi - Zealand looks more like late October while Lincoln seems right around peak. My golden retriever Kirby and I passed you guys between the Guyot peaks on our way to the Bonds...

    Franconia Brook Trail Beaver Ponds

I was up the FB trail past Redrock Brook a few weeks ago - no water problems at all, just a few easy brook crossings. Beaver Ponds were easily walked around on the regular trail - you should have no problems at all.

Holden out for Noble - a Waterfall story

Hey - congrats to you, Terra, and Rocket for finding those falls! That is definitely an impressive ravine and drainage - a real treat to visit. :) It is really cool what you can find just by kicking around the trail-less woods a bit - I'm glad there is still some adventure to be had even...

    Got Snow?

Wow, Tim - Kudos to you for keeping such an extensive snow-covered geographic area top secret - and within the borders of the USA, too! You must have some powerful friends! :D:cool:
