    Grafton Loop 5/23/09 - 5/25/09

Although it was certainly hard for me to not continue the loop,I did not want to have Glen refuse to go on any more trips, and judging by Kim's report the Puzzle mtn climb and subsequent bugs might have done just that. 17+ miles was a good outing for him and he enjoyed it. We had a great time...

The best hike I ever did......

The hardest part is watching a loved one wither away. Now you can remember your brother outside the context of his sickness, in a better time and place.

Car broken into at Ferncroft lot

Just got off the phone with Sirius.Disconnected the stolen unit(it is now useless) and a new unit is on the way for free, but I don't think it's as nice as the one I had. This is the second Sirius radio I have had stolen and they replaced both of them for free.Pretty cool but makes sense because...

Car broken into at Ferncroft lot

After about 15 years of no trouble I guess it's easy to get a false sense of security. Also I try to go as light as possible and the keys and wallet probably weigh half a pound.I'm am glad to say that I hid it well enough that it WAS still there when I got back. Most thieves are usually looking...

Car broken into at Ferncroft lot

After an excellent hike I returned to Ferncroft and found out my car and another hiker ,who I had seen on the way down, car had been broken into. The theives apparently knew what they were doing becuse they popped my doorlock in with hardly making a dent. The other car (much nicer than mine) had...

    Hale,Zealand and the Bonds 3-15

7 dwarfs to Lincoln Woods:Firewarden,Lend a hand,Twinway,Bondcliff and Wilderness plus the hike in from 7 Dwarfs. Firm to start early in the morning, getting slushy later in the day.The snow was transforming from crusty, frozen and very hard to more spring like conditions. It was neither for most...

    Cabot,Waumbek 3-10

Cabot Bunnell notch to KRT. Hard packed trail, couple inches powder on top.I started with microspikes and took them off due to snowballing.Finished ascent bareboot and descended(ran) without traction as well. The snow was perfect, firm underneath and just enough fresh to make it fun.All the...

    Moriah via Carter-Moriah trail

This was a beautiful trail however the conditions were hardly ideal.Frozen rock hard and postholed down low giving way to slightly softer surfaces with the new snow up high but still badly postholed in sections. Not too bad near the summit. Made for tough 'shoein, barebooted most of the way down...
